Volume One, Chapter 31: The Great Battle Approaches, Preparations Before the War
The black-gold gauntlets were woven from an exotic black-gold alloy, thin as cicada wings. Once worn, they felt no different from one’s own skin.
Even while wearing them, one could handle other objects without the slightest hindrance.
They had been painstakingly crafted by a master artisan. Immune to fire and water and impervious to blades and spears, they could withstand the slash of any weapon of the same level without suffering the slightest damage.
In Qianye’s view, perhaps Gaara’s father did not truly feel nothing for him. Otherwise, with Gaara being such an obvious failed jinchuriki, he should have been reclaimed and remade long ago.
To be honest, most of the people coming to see movies nowadays were young. Not many people in their thirties still went to the cinema.
“Judging by the terrain, the exit should be just ahead.” Yun Mu looked around and guessed that they were probably close to the way out.
After they had exchanged blows for a moment, Hanzo took advantage of the dim shadows underground. At some point, the chain attached to the end of the sickle in his hand had silently reached Qianye’s back.
“All right. I’ll go now.” Flowing Years Like Water and Mu Xue nodded. The two of them had heavy responsibilities at present. Like Wu Jiang, they had stopped worrying about leveling up and spent every day in the Thunder God Shop, coordinating and making arrangements.
For example, they could set aside one afternoon each week for training. Thursday would be an excellent time for that.
“Arranging music—the kind of arranging used for songs. It may prove very useful in the future. If you have nothing else to do…” Li An’an explained.
Lan Yueqing was delighted. The two subordinates behind her looked at her with some envy, and they too felt a stir of anticipation. They looked forward to the day Lingzhou fully implemented its senior-staff stock-allocation plan. When that happened, they would all have a chance.
Because of Xiao’s mother’s remark, Tang Xue’er suddenly felt as though she were being especially greedy, and her face genuinely flushed a little.
“You really are a thoughtful child.” Fu Zhengli’s smile deepened. He rolled up the sleeves of his ceremonial robe and sat down, reaching for his chopsticks. But when he saw the dishes on the table, his smile faded and his brow furrowed.
The moonlight was beautiful, but beauty was not all it possessed—it was exceedingly dangerous. Ye Yun noticed it as well. His powerful fists and swordlike fingers struck the moonlight together, causing the earth to tremble violently.
Apart from knowing that this organization was a force even the Hunters’ League of Faluyi Island did not dare provoke, he knew nothing else.
Lin Zhenghao’s brow furrowed even more deeply. A surge of anger flashed through his heart. Feng Wutian was being far too disrespectful, practically treating him as though he were invisible and leaving him, a monarch, with almost no dignity at all.
Ji Qiandao’s Adam’s apple bobbed twice. Truly, even the wisest judge could not untangle a family dispute. If the other party had been a man, he could have crushed him outright. But the man claimed to be Feng Mo’s lover, which made matters troublesome. If he acted rashly and incurred Mo Mo’s displeasure, it would probably be difficult to explain himself afterward.
“This poor Daoist believes that you will surely create a sky of your own.” He slowly climbed onto the clouds and waved to them once more before vanishing into the endless night sky. At some point, a delicate fragrance had filled the air, lingering long after he was gone.
Zi Qi hurriedly tried to control his spiritual power, but when the energy reached his palm, all that emerged was a mere puff of air.
Li Yi smiled, his eyes glinting with cold light. Liu Xueting and Feng Xuanyu both breathed a sigh of relief. In the end, Li Yi had not lost his reason.
“Wait, Daddy. You seem to have put on the wrong clothes. What you’re wearing is Mommy’s Scottish country dress with the little floral print.” Qing Kou spoke with grave precision.
“Since we’re leaving, then let’s go tomorrow.” Zi Yue’s words left Qing Binghe and Weiwei staring at her in stunned silence.
But the instant he touched his companion’s body, his expression changed. He felt an overwhelming force surge from his companion into him. Not only did he fail to catch the other man, he was sent flying by the impact.
