“Hey, Chief Bear’s severed arm has actually healed?” At this moment, Redskin the pig demon, seeing three figures approaching, suddenly spoke up.

“It really has…” Attracted by Redskin’s words, the crow demon immediately turned to look and saw that Chief Bear’s previously severed arm had returned to its original state. His tone was somewhat relaxed.

It was only natural for the lesser demons to rejoice at their boss’s recovery. After all, if the chief died, they’d be reassigned to serve under some other chief—unfamiliar territory, ripe for bullying.

Lu Fei wasn’t surprised by the tone of Redskin and the crow demon, for he’d never told them that it was his doing that caused Chief Bear to lose his arm. Nor had he mentioned the resentment that now festered in Chief Bear’s heart toward him.

Yet now, hearing their words, Lu Fei felt the need to give them a warning. The three of them had always acted together, and their sworn brotherhood was no secret among the other demons. Lu Fei doubted that Chief Bear would seek revenge on him alone. Even if that were the case, he felt obliged to inform his brothers, so they could be on their guard.

“Who is that woman?”

“She’s so beautiful…” The crow demon stared at the woman cradled in General Black’s arms—a woman clad only in a short leather chest wrap and a short leather skirt, with the rest of her smooth, hairless skin exposed. She wasn’t in a half-demon form, but fully human, just like the black-faced new lord. Eyes wide, the crow demon swallowed hard and asked, “Is she human?”

“I don’t know…” Redskin shook his head. This was beyond his knowledge; it was also the first time he’d seen such a human-like, scantily clad woman, and he too was curious.

The two brothers immediately turned to their eldest.

Lu Fei had noticed the woman as well, but preoccupied as he was, hadn’t spared her a second glance. Now, seeing his brothers’ inquisitive gazes, he lifted his head and regarded the woman who was now sitting beside General Black, flirting and preening.

Though she was in a completely human guise, her transformation was far inferior to that of the black-faced third lord. Her ears, for example, were noticeably larger than a human’s, obvious even beneath her black hair. Her eyes, too, were rimmed with a crimson flush—hardly a feature of any human woman. Besides, no ordinary woman could survive the attentions of a great demon like General Black.

Judging by the practiced, professional way she moved, she was clearly a demoness specialized in serving the great demons.

Transforming fully into human shape was not something ordinary demons could achieve. At least, Lu Fei himself was far from it, and he wasn’t sure if chieftain-level demons could manage it either.

In any case, the woman now being fondled in General Black’s embrace was likely a demoness meant to attend the great ones.

Faced with his brothers’ curious stares, Lu Fei withdrew his gaze and shook his head. “She’s not human; she’s a demon in disguise.”

At this, the crow demon grew even more excited. “A demon, huh? A demon with no fur—imagine how nice that would feel…”

Even Redskin, usually the quieter one, seemed restless, glancing from the furry demonesses atop a nearby stone table to the hairless beauty in the general’s arms. He chimed in, “There’s a world of difference between fur and no fur. She’s gorgeous…”

As his brothers talked, Lu Fei watched the lesser demons begin to line up and serve wine and platters of roasted meat to every stone table.

At last, Lu Fei spoke. “Blackhair, Redskin, there’s something I have to tell you both…”

The crow demon swallowed and turned. “What is it, big brother?”

Redskin also looked over.

Lu Fei lowered his voice. “Do you know how Chief Bear lost his arm?”

“How?”

“Because of me—right on the battlefield just now…” Lu Fei briefly recounted the events.

The crow demon was stunned, his mouth half open and speechless. Redskin, whose gaze had been carefree, instantly grew serious. “Big brother, you’re not joking, are you?”

Lu Fei shook his head. “I wish I was, but no. Chief Bear will definitely try to deal with me—but this has nothing to do with you two…”

“No way!” Redskin immediately interrupted. “Big brother, we’re brothers! Chief Bear might be strong, but the three of us aren’t afraid of him. Just like we handled that bull demon. Besides, you didn’t mean for it to happen…”

“Right, right…” The crow demon, recovering, chimed in, “We’re brothers—that’s what counts. We’re not afraid of him. Besides, Chief Bear’s arm is healed; he shouldn’t blame you…”

Seeing the tension in their eyes, but also their unwavering loyalty, Lu Fei was suddenly moved. He reached out and patted their shoulders. “Good brothers.”

Only in the face of real danger could one see who their true companions were. Part of Lu Fei’s reason for telling them was to test their hearts.

After all, Chief Bear’s strength and malice would be irresistible to lowly demons such as themselves, especially as his subordinates.

Yet still, they stood firmly by his side.

Having been scarred by the cold realities and sordid dealings of society on Earth, Lu Fei was genuinely touched.

If it were humans in their place… No, best not to think that way.

The faint contempt and calculation he’d once harbored toward his two little demon brothers now vanished completely. Even with decades of experience from a past life and the cheat-like golden finger of his virtual panel, Lu Fei still felt deeply threatened by Chief Bear’s malevolence.

How much more so, then, for two humble native demons at the very bottom of this world?

In this moment, Lu Fei truly felt the bond—not of humanity, but of demon brotherhood.

“But there’s no need to be overly afraid…” Lu Fei’s voice shifted as he sought to bolster their spirits. “Your big brother here isn’t far from becoming a chief himself…”

“Langlang Mountain has just been through a great battle and suffered heavy losses. And this is Wild Mountain—the general needs more demons…”

“As long as I get my name listed under General Black and the Wolf Grand Commander…”

Lu Fei began to explain some deeper knowledge to his two brothers, something he’d never done before.

The crow demon, deeply engrossed, asked, “What happens if you get your name listed?”

“If I do, Chief Bear won’t dare touch us…” Lu Fei continued. “If I break through one more time, I’ll be a chief too. General Black needs soldiers—he won’t let Chief Bear harm me.”

“And the Wolf Grand Commander is a white wolf demon as well…”

“Besides me, there’s no other white wolf in Langlang Mountain…”

“So now your big brother is qualified to cozy up to him…”

“In short, as long as I’m here, there’s no need to worry too much…”

By the time he finished, the anxious looks on the crow demon and Redskin’s faces had eased considerably.

At that moment, the kitchen demons finally arrived with wine and meat for their table.

The crow demon and Redskin immediately grabbed hunks of meat and began to gnaw.

Lu Fei poured himself a bowl of wine from the little jug, tasted it, and then glanced toward the seats of General Black and the Wolf Grand Commander, pondering the right moment to go over and offer a toast.
