Chapter 16: He Really Is the Best Actor!
As a shareholder, Lydia Liu was naturally informed of this news in advance.
She looked at the freshly released announcement on her phone and smiled, knowing three hundred million yuan was securely in her hands!
At that moment, messages from Li Mingsi flooded in.
“Boss! XG-Tech’s stock is skyrocketing!”
“Buy quickly! This is a perfect opportunity!”
“If you don’t buy now, it’ll be too late!”
Only then did Lydia remember she hadn’t told Li Mingsi she had already purchased a large amount.
“Li Mingsi, you might not know...” she sent a screenshot, “I’ve already bought a huge number of XG-Tech shares.”
Several seconds of silence followed on the other end before an outpouring of excitement erupted across the chat:
“Damn! Boss, you’re incredible!”
“How did you manage to buy so much? Oh my god.”
“You’re literally an investment god!”
Li Mingsi’s heart was filled with indescribable excitement. He had strongly recommended this stock to the Liu family but was rejected.
Who would have thought that the new boss he didn’t believe in would buy so much instead!
“Boss, I’m so lucky!” Li Mingsi’s fingers trembled with excitement. “Following you, I’m sure we can achieve great things!”
“Boss, you’re going to make a fortune this time! How about we start a company focused on investments? With this capital, there are so many stocks we could buy!”
Li Mingsi already felt financial freedom beckoning to him.
He was unbelievably fortunate.
To have such an excellent boss was a rare blessing, and he was determined to accomplish something big!
Lydia said, “No rush. I have a new project I’m going to entrust you to manage fully.”
“What project? I’ll give it my all!”
“You’ve heard of the notorious unfinished building, Emerald Garden?”
Li Mingsi froze, almost blurting out, “Isn’t that a trap?”
But his professionalism stopped him just in time.
“Alright, boss. I’ll investigate thoroughly. I won’t let you lose a penny!”
Lydia nodded with satisfaction. With Li Mingsi on board, she could free herself to handle more matters.
Li Mingsi was so thrilled it felt better than making money himself. Was this what it felt like to have a wise leader?
“Boss, I feel like we’re destined for greatness!” he said excitedly. “But you must take care of your health. Last time I went to the hospital, I saw a pitiful man. The scene... tsk, tsk, tsk.”
Lydia’s heart stirred. “What happened?”
Li Mingsi sighed and sent a message: “Last time at the hospital, I saw a very handsome man. I felt he must be your type. But he was in a terrible situation. I heard his father has cancer and needs a huge sum for medical fees.”
He paused. “Sigh, who can really afford cancer treatment costs? Life is cruel. I think...”
He left the sentence unfinished, implying the man’s father was doomed.
Lydia suddenly stood up. “Could it really be the actor from the news? The timing and place match…”
“What exactly does he look like, since you said he’s handsome?”
Li Mingsi thought his boss was interested and described him in detail: “Ah, just a typical handsome guy with a high nose bridge, big eyes, and a teardrop mole at the eye’s corner…”
He remembered clearly and was stunned because the man was excessively good-looking.
A teardrop mole! Lydia’s excitement surged — it had to be Lin Mochen.
She quickly changed clothes and rushed to the hospital.
If she could help Lin Mochen through this difficult time now, the future rewards would be immeasurable.
Lydia nearly sprinted through the hospital corridors and stopped abruptly around the corner.
It was indeed him!
He looked exactly like the figure in the news photos.
Not as mature as during the interview, now he resembled an abandoned child, standing with his head lowered, being scolded by a doctor.
His eyes were red and swollen, hair messy, hands clutching the payment notice tightly.
The doctor said, “Mr. Lin, I’m sorry. Today is the final deadline. If you still can’t pay the surgery fees…”
“We will have no choice but to give up treatment.”
Lin Mochen suddenly looked up. “Doctor, please give me one more day! Just one day! I promise I’ll find a solution!”
The doctor sighed and shook his head.
At that moment, a gentle voice whispered in his ear:
“Are you alright?”
Lin Mochen raised his head and saw a beautiful yet unfamiliar face.
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden halo around her.
In that instant, he saw an angel on earth.
XG-Tech’s stock soared wildly, like a rocket shooting upward.
“Oh my God, it hit the daily limit!”
“This is insane — I haven’t seen such a crazy rise this year.”
“My goodness, the returns from this company must be enormous.”
“Crazy! Absolutely crazy!”
Wang Dezhong, the owner of an investment firm, stared wide-eyed at the screen with the rapidly fluctuating numbers. His coffee cup crashed to the ground.
“Li Mingsi! Quickly, find Li Mingsi!” he shouted to his secretary. “No matter the cost, we must lure him back!”
Li Mingsi was the very talent who first predicted this stock would surge.
They would stop at nothing to bring him back.
However, when Li Mingsi received the call, he flatly refused:
“Sorry, I already have a new boss.”
“And I’m not considering switching jobs. Goodbye.”
Now he had a wealthy and appreciative boss. Why would he return to his old company to be humiliated?
He hadn’t forgotten how easily investors could fire him before!
It was too late to go back now.
Meanwhile, at the Liu family mansion.
“Bang!” An expensive vase shattered on the floor.
“Impossible! This can’t be!” Mrs. Liu screamed hysterically, wildly smashing everything around her.
“How could that wretched woman’s stock rise?!”
“This is all fake, just a scheme to trick me!”
The butler stood helplessly by, sighing softly.
He had warned her before, but alas... Mrs. Liu would not listen.
Unexpectedly, his faint sigh caught Mrs. Liu’s attention.
She spun around, bloodshot eyes fixed on him.
“Are you mocking me? Are you laughing at me?”
She grit her teeth and pointed at the butler. “How dare you laugh at my misfortune?!”
“No, madam, I would never—” The butler shook his head frantically, voice trembling.
“Lies!” Mrs. Liu screamed and slapped the butler hard across the face.
The butler staggered back, five bright red finger marks instantly appearing on his cheek.
He dared not look up, only apologizing meekly, “I’m sorry, madam. I was careless...”
“Get out!” Mrs. Liu roared. “Everyone, get out now!”
Witnessing this, Lydia XinYi retreated to her room in terror and slammed the door shut.
She curled up under the blanket, trembling.
“How could this happen? Impossible... this can’t be...” she murmured. “Lydia Liu, how could she have made so much money?”
“Isn’t she just a spendthrift heiress?”
“How could that stock have made money? Didn’t she conspire with that analyst to scam the Liu family?”
She couldn’t understand it — not at all.
Her phone lit up. Trembling, she opened the group chat with her friends.
Since the news of the stock surge had spread, no one had spoken.
The last message read:
“Lydia Liu, that poor loser, will never turn her life around!”
Reading those words, Lydia JiaYi felt as if her eyes were stung by bright light.
