Chapter Two: The Five Million Lottery!!
As soon as Liu Yiyi finished speaking, the entire banquet hall fell into a brief silence.
Liu Xinyi clearly hadn’t expected her to be so shameless, calling Lu Yancheng trash that she didn’t want—when in fact it was Yancheng who had abandoned her!
“How dare you say that!” Her once triumphant expression twisted instantly.
“You’re no longer the esteemed daughter of the Liu family; how can you still be so arrogant?”
Suddenly, Liu Xinyi turned to her stepmother, urgently pleading, “Mom, what are we waiting for? Hurry up and kick this impostor out!”
The stepmother glanced at Liu Xinyi with disdain, thinking: What a naive, unsophisticated country girl.
But... she wasn’t wrong. Liu Yiyi clearly didn’t belong here; the cramped rental where the nanny lived was the rightful place for the rest of her life.
With a wave of her hand, several security guards advanced toward Liu Yiyi.
“Arrest her and throw her out!”
At that moment, a series of future events flashed through Liu Yiyi’s mind:
“Trending Video (to be released in 30 minutes):”
“Scandalous Behavior After Heiress’s Identity Is Exposed!”
“...Liu Yiyi goes hysterical at the banquet...”
“...Netizens’ spicy comments: This shrew really is a fake heiress...”
“Stock Market Warning (to be released in 1 hour):”
“...Liu Corporation’s shares plunge 20%, possibly linked to change in heir...”
“Breaking News (to be released in 2 hours):”
“...Shocking Incident at Elite Banquet: Partial Ceiling Collapse, Fortunately No Casualties...”
A plan quickly took shape in her mind.
Backing away, she faced her stepmother calmly and said, “Why are you in such a hurry? I don’t need you to tell me to leave—I will go on my own. But before I do, I have a few words for everyone here.”
“First, I want to thank Mrs. Liu and this... ‘sister,’” Liu Yiyi cast a meaningful glance at Liu Xinyi, “for revealing the true nature of my fiancé. What trash he really is. But have you forgotten something?”
Her gaze swept the room and settled on the company magnates. “For example, how will the market react to this scandal? Does the new heir have the capability to lead the company forward?”
She continued, “I can say with full responsibility: if the heir is rashly replaced now, Liu Corporation’s stock price will suffer a serious blow.”
Her stepmother’s face darkened, clearly unprepared for Liu Yiyi’s counterattack.
Without another word, Liu Yiyi began to retreat, mindful of the impending news of the ceiling collapse.
Calmly moving toward the exit, she added, “But none of this matters anymore. Since I am no longer part of the Liu family, what concern is the future of Liu Corporation to me?”
At the door, she flashed a brilliant smile. “Then, farewell to you all.”
---
Liu Yiyi turned and walked away with poise.
Her actions left everyone utterly baffled.
“Wait, is she out of her mind? Just walking away so nonchalantly?”
“With all the money and assets the Liu family has, she doesn’t care at all?”
In a corner, a few young people quietly put away their phones, disappointment etched across their faces.
“Damn, I wanted to record her hysterics, and it just ended like that?”
“Yeah, I was hoping to see her begging Mrs. Liu to take her in. This is so boring.”
“I even had the headline ready: ‘Scandalous Behavior After Heiress’s Identity Is Exposed!’”
And yet, Liu Yiyi left with such grace?
Outside the hotel, Liu Yiyi walked briskly with her hands behind her back.
The cool night breeze brushed her cheeks, and a countdown flickered through her mind.
“One...”
Boom!
The loud explosion came exactly on time.
Behind her, chaos erupted at the hotel—screams mingled with shattering glass.
Dust filled the air, blurring the hotel’s outline.
From the haze, a figure slowly emerged.
Liu Yiyi stepped out elegantly through the dust; even though her gown was dust-streaked, her posture remained noble and composed.
Sirens wailed urgently in the distance. She knew the collapse was caused by a sudden gas pipe explosion at the hotel.
No one was seriously injured, but the banquet was thoroughly ruined.
Liu Yiyi strolled along the bustling city avenue, neon lights flickering in the night.
Life’s upheavals could come overnight.
Before this night, she was the renowned heiress of the Liu family in Shanghai.
After this night, she was the daughter of a maid.
The cold wind chilled her arms; Liu Yiyi opened the hotel booking page without hesitation and reserved the penthouse suite on the top floor.
---
Though she could no longer return home, she refused to let herself suffer.
Tonight, she would see if there was any chance to make a fortune on her phone.
Stepping into the penthouse, Liu Yiyi surveyed the surroundings with satisfaction.
Crystal chandeliers, leather sofas, the cityscape glowing through floor-to-ceiling windows—all spoke of luxury.
She shed her dust-covered gown and luxuriated in a lavish bath.
After freshening up, wrapped in a soft robe, she lazily lay on the king-sized bed.
She unlocked her phone and scrolled through upcoming news.
Most were random, many useless.
After several tries, her eyes brightened.
“Hot News (to be released in 3 days):”
“Five Million Lottery Prize Goes Unclaimed and Is Forfeited to Charity!”
She hurriedly opened the article:
“Recently, a lottery ticket winning five million yuan was officially voided due to no claim. The winning numbers are: 03, 07, 11, 22, 29, 06, 10. The ticket was purchased at 9:53 PM on August 15, 2024, at Lucky Star Lottery Shop, No. 76 Meihua Road, West City District. According to regulations, the prize money has been transferred to the charity fund for social welfare. The lottery center reminds all players to verify their numbers promptly to avoid missing out on prizes.”
Liu Yiyi gasped. Today was August 15!
She stared sharply at the phone’s clock: 9:03 PM.
By this timing, the winning ticket had not yet been sold!
“There’s still time!”
She practically jumped out of bed.
Quickly stripping off the robe, she scrambled into the gown tossed aside earlier—no other choices left now.
Ignoring her hair, she grabbed her purse and dashed out.
“Taxi!” she shouted to the hotel doorman.
Once in the cab, she gave the driver the lottery shop’s address from the news, urging, “Please hurry.”
The driver glanced at her doubtfully in the rearview mirror. Going out this late just to buy a lottery ticket? He didn’t understand the hobbies of these heiresses but replied, “Okay.”
The car merged into traffic, Liu Yiyi’s eyes fixed nervously on the time.
“Faster, faster,” she silently urged, fearing she might miss the chance to buy that five-million-yuan ticket.
When the car finally stopped in front of a slightly shabby convenience store, Liu Yiyi almost leapt out.
