Chapter 28: The Wild Girl
...
“A genius like you is not someone I care to praise,” Feng Xu said coldly, picking up the teaching stick beside him.
“I just started working, didn’t I? I don’t need your guidance! I know you’re a Practitioner, and not just any Practitioner, but one of the top internationally. So what if you’re more knowledgeable and talented than others? It’s nothing special,” Huang Yunxuan muttered quietly, feeling somewhat aggrieved.
She managed to keep up with Feng Xu’s pace, even if only a tenth, and that was already an achievement. If any of her former classmates tried to follow Feng Xu’s lead, they wouldn’t even finish the main diagram of the first illustration.
“By the way, why did you betray? Everyone in the Dragon Nation thinks you did, but I feel like you actually have a strong sense of justice...”
“Keep your mouth shut, or I’ll have to ask you to leave,” Feng Xu replied coldly, stopping his pen.
Huang Yunxuan dared not speak any further, quietly following behind Feng Xu as she drew the diagram.
He kept ordering her about, making her serve tea and water, until she was exhausted, sticking out her tongue.
It was just about lunchtime.
Unable to decline, and bothered at heart, Feng Xu followed Huang Yunxuan out to grab a quick meal together.
“After this meal, we don’t have to see each other again. Please don’t come looking for me. Thank you,” Feng Xu said solemnly. He had no intention of dragging along such trouble, especially when it would bring unwanted attention.
...
Huang Yunxuan’s brows furrowed slightly. So many people would beg for a meal with him, yet Feng Xu was different—he actually dared to dislike her.
“Hey! I helped you all morning. Even if you’re too proud to admit it, you should at least say thank you.”
“Thank you. I’m full. Goodbye,” Feng Xu said, putting down his knife and fork after finishing his steak.
“Wait! I came to you because I need your help,” Huang Yunxuan quickly grabbed Feng Xu’s arm.
“No,” Feng Xu replied coldly, glancing down at the hands on his arm.
“You ate my food—don’t you know it’s hard to refuse someone after that? If you don’t sit down, I’ll call for help,” Huang Yunxuan threatened angrily, as if she was in the right.
...
Feng Xu was baffled. How did he end up with such an unreasonable girl?
The stalemate lasted less than five seconds before Huang Yunxuan couldn’t wait any longer.
“Help—”
As the first syllable left her lips, Feng Xu realized what this crazy girl was about to shout. He hastily covered her mouth and made her sit quietly.
“Are you insane!” Feng Xu lowered his voice, speaking rapidly.
People around them began to look over, watching the pair curiously.
“Hello, you two. I’m the manager here. Is there something private going on between you?”
“If the lady is in any danger, I can call the police for you,” he said with a courteous smile to Huang Yunxuan. Beauty always attracted attention, no matter where.
Looking at Feng Xu’s face, which resembled the infamous traitor, though somewhat handsome, he was not the sort most people liked.
“Ask him,” Huang Yunxuan said with a reluctant expression, trying to look as angry as possible.
Feng Xu didn’t need to pretend—he was genuinely annoyed.
Feng Xu sighed. For this crazy girl, there was nothing he could do. He tapped his forehead.
“You know how it is—age creeps up, and things get a little testy, especially with the lady across from me. You should go; we still have to eat.”
He smiled at the restaurant manager.
“Very well,” the manager replied, giving Huang Yunxuan a careful glance. Not seeing any further trouble, he hurried away.
“You’re the one with a midlife crisis—how could you say that?”
Huang Yunxuan protested, clenching her fists in outrage.
“If only you could behave normally. Beneath this lovely exterior, your personality is like a lunatic. Sigh.”
Feng Xu sighed and took a bite.
“My brother says the same. He wants to cooperate with others and tried to sell me out. Hmph, I won’t listen to him,” Huang Yunxuan said with a hint of pride.
“Anyway, help me with one last thing. After that, I won’t bother you anymore. How about it?” Huang Yunxuan said quickly.
...
Feng Xu was speechless.
“Come to think of it, you owe me a favor. Why am I still helping you?”
“If you have any conscience, you’d let me go. I have things to do myself,” Feng Xu sighed, realizing he was in trouble.
“Hehe...” Huang Yunxuan was delighted. Though Feng Xu refused, his tone had softened.
“Alright, alright. I’m planning to open a company. My dad will provide the funds, but it mustn’t fail! Otherwise, I’ll have to obey my family and marry whoever they choose. Helping me would be as good as saving a life!”
Huang Yunxuan pressed her palms together in a plea.
...
Feng Xu was at a loss for words.
“I’ll be honest with you—I have no experience in starting a company. I only research technology. If you ask about anything else, I know nothing,” Feng Xu shook his head, unwilling to get involved.
“No!”
Huang Yunxuan shook her head urgently.
“At the very least, we’ve met once. If not for this situation, I wouldn’t trouble you. If you help me, I’ll give you fifty percent of the profits.”
“That’s much better than that stingy guy who wouldn’t even give you ten percent, right?”
She spoke boldly, taking a bite of steak in her moment of pride.
“Ah~”
Feng Xu sighed and nodded.
“I’ll agree for now. Contact me when you decide what kind of company to open.”
“Here’s my number.”
Feng Xu quickly scribbled his contact on a slip of paper.
“Yay! You’re actually quite decent, though I can’t figure out...”
Huang Yunxuan almost uttered the word ‘spy,’ but seeing Feng Xu’s face change, she closed her mouth.
Feng Xu left his phone number and stood to leave. At last, he could breathe easy.
His phone vibrated softly.
“Hello, who is this? If you don’t speak, I’ll hang up—and block you permanently,” Feng Xu said coldly.
