Chapter Fifty-Six: The Tower of Revelation
Ps: Only today did I realize that so many brothers worry that Bookboy will abandon the novel unfinished. Haha, if I say I guarantee it won't happen, no one will believe me. So, I'll follow the example of the famed Catnip and swear on the honor of my parents: this book will never be left incomplete. My personal integrity may not be worth much, but the honor of my parents is sacred to me, as lofty as the heavens; as long as the sky does not fall, Bookboy will keep updating. I am well aware that my current update speed is far from satisfactory. I too am a reader and get frustrated when the masters’ updates are slow. But Bookboy has always strived, and the results so far have exceeded my expectations. It may still be insignificant, but for Bookboy, it is already quite good. So I am both anxious and fearful—afraid my writing might not be worthy of so many loyal readers. Not ashamed to admit it, Bookboy truly feels the pressure. In the beginning, my typing speed was terribly slow, and plotting the story was laborious. I am doing my utmost, hoping my brothers can grant me a little more time. The updates will speed up, and the story will grow grander and more thrilling. I am aiming for the thousand days of full attendance at Origin; to achieve that, I must update ten thousand words a day. When the novel is released for purchase, you will see my progress and speed.
Finally, I sincerely thank everyone who has clicked on, bookmarked, or collected this book. You have given me hope. Though I cannot yet repay you with astonishing update volumes, I can only strive to make the story as captivating as possible. Today should be the last day on the New Book Rankings. I earnestly ask my brothers to cast a vote in support. I do not know how to promote my book, so if you can, please recommend it to your fellow readers.
The world of the eagle is forever beyond the comprehension of the ant.
In the eyes of Kobei, the people of the slums are mere ants. In his world, those struggling for survival in the slums will never understand. And to those who stand at the pinnacle of this world, Kobei himself is nothing but an ant. The coming miracle, the five major powers of Earth—those below the level of the God of War cannot even touch it.
Even some at the peak of the Transcendent Realm are just slightly stronger ants. Should they occasionally raise their heads and glimpse the eagle, learn a fragment of the legend of miracles, they will never reach that distant, unattainable sky.
December 21st, 2012, the day of catastrophe—the apocalypse for all humanity!
On that day, cracks appeared suddenly above the Pacific and Indian Oceans, as if the scythe of the Grim Reaper had torn the blue sky asunder! Two colossal mountains, unimaginable in scale, flew from the limitless, pitch-black fissures and crashed into the oceans.
The endless seawater vanished in an instant—not evaporated, but simply gone, utterly disappeared. Then the two mountains that had flown out of the black cracks plunged into where the seas had been.
The enormous mass of these mountains filled the two oceans completely!
Strangely, despite the impact of these unimaginable mountains, the Earth merely quaked slightly: no mountains split, no ground collapsed, no volcanoes erupted. Yet the apocalypse had arrived!
The day after the mountains descended, hordes of red-haired zombies, green-haired zombies, purple-haired zombies, and countless monstrous beasts surged forth, attacking human cities in a frenzy.
When humanity took up arms to resist, they discovered that all modern weaponry was useless.
Missiles failed, nuclear bombs failed. The frail human race, defenseless without weapons, was swiftly crushed by the armies of zombies and beasts. The military collapsed in short order.
A global apocalypse swept the world. Countless humans perished in endless slaughter, with no end in sight. Terror gripped humanity, and they fled in desperation. But with monsters everywhere, where could they escape?
Just as despair overwhelmed humanity, the first great human warrior, Tang, appeared.
Clad in white robes, wielding powers unimaginable to humans of the past, alone with a black spear, he slaughtered all the zombies and beasts in an entire city in a single night.
Thus, humanity’s first base, Ancient Tang Base, was established.
The few surviving humans flocked there, and soon many found themselves growing stronger. The powerful among them took up arms to fight zombies and beasts, defending the city base.
Ten years later, the second base, Jiujiang, was founded. Fifteen years later, the third base, Haoyue, came into existence.
To this day, humanity possesses three major bases and nearly two hundred city bases.
Zombies and beasts have yet to be eradicated from the continent, let alone from Corpse Mountain and Beast Mountain. The first human warrior, Tang, once entered Corpse Mountain alone with his spear. The outcome of that battle is unknown, but after Tang returned, he immediately secluded himself, leaving only one order: humanity must not set foot in Corpse Mountain or Beast Mountain!
From those two mountains, no zombie or beast has attacked the city bases since; it’s as if a tacit agreement has been reached.
But battle has never ceased; the wilderness is the battlefield!
Kobei’s city, Lingfeng Base, is one of the cities under Jiujiang Base. These days, Kobei has been cultivating the Essence-Refining Art and studying the final blade technique left by his bearded father.
He knows nothing of miracles, nor that the strongest of the five global powers have already gathered at Moonwatch Lake, quietly awaiting the miracle’s emergence.
The blood and carnage that Han Lingyue spoke of has not arrived. Except for the God of War-level warriors, no one knows that the miracle will appear at Moonwatch Lake. The strongest of the five powers each occupy a position, but the expected battle has not begun.
The three greatest human warriors—Tang, Jiujiang, and Haoyue—exchange smiles, quietly watching the increasingly turbulent waters of Moonwatch Lake and the ever-brightening rainbow glow.
Rumble!
Suddenly, a thunderous roar erupted.
In an instant, the rainbow light soared skyward! The warriors near Moonwatch Lake squinted instinctively.
A nine-story, pitch-black tower slowly emerged amidst the rainbow light, growing more solid and clear. As the rainbow faded, a nine-story pagoda stood unmistakably above Moonwatch Lake.
The pitch-black pagoda was immense, its base occupying a third of the lake, reaching over three hundred meters in height. Upon its dark body shone three ancient golden characters:
“Heaven-Opening Tower!”
Tang, refined and elegant in white robes, gazed calmly at the tower radiating a dark glow, smiling as he nodded to Jiujiang and Haoyue.
Jiujiang and Haoyue smiled as well, though their smiles lacked Tang's ease, and deep in their eyes was a subtle tension.
Opposite the human heroes, a handsome young god in purple robes glanced deeply at Tang, then turned to a three-meter-tall ape warrior clad in golden armor, shining with golden light, massively built, his face adorned with golden fur, and nodded.
“Go.”
Tang, in white robes, waved his hand gently. The three disciples behind him, dressed in golden armor, nodded excitedly, their bodies shimmering as they shot toward the massive, pitch-black pagoda in a streak of golden light.
“Let’s give it a try as well.”
The founders of Jiujiang and Haoyue bases moved, appearing atop the pagoda in an instant, as if teleporting.
“Go.”
The purple-robed godling waved casually to the eighteen god kings behind him.
“Children, go.”
The ape warrior in golden armor raised his furred palm, and the sixteen colossal king-class beasts behind him, each towering over ten meters like mountains, nodded respectfully and, in a flash, appeared atop the Heaven-Opening Tower.
“Long time no see,” said the purple-robed godling, looking at Tang, who stood calmly opposite him.
“Haha, yes, it has been a while,” Tang replied, his tone serene, his face still adorned with that gentle, scholarly smile.
“Who do you think will earn its recognition?” asked the purple-robed youth, gazing at the pitch-black, sky-reaching Heaven-Opening Tower.
“Haha, recognition isn’t difficult… What’s hard is to become its master! You’d best pray it doesn’t recognize a human, or many old scores will be settled,” replied Tang, his face gentle, his tone calm, yet carrying an irresistible authority.
“Hahaha, as you wish. But it seems my people have more strong warriors… so perhaps our chances are greater.”
The purple robes fluttered in an unfelt breeze. The youth glanced at the eighteen god kings atop the dark tower, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
