Volume One, Chapter 11: You’ve Got Some Nerve—Just You Wait.

Wei Guoxiong strode straight toward the hotel lobby.
Lou Nanzhi quickly set down the bowl and chopsticks in her hands, then rose and anxiously stepped outside.
She thought to herself, she shouldn’t have told Wei Guoxiong yesterday that she was working at the Moonview Pavilion.
She had assumed Wei Guoxiong was at least a decent man.
But she hadn’t expected him to come after her like a shrew.
It seemed all these years, the gentlemanly demeanor he had put on in front of Lou Nanzhi and her family was just a façade.
“Oh! So you’ve been waiting for me right at the door?”
Wei Guoxiong, just stepping out of the car, was still worried about how to find Lou Nanzhi inside the Moonview Pavilion.
After all, he had already offended the Fu family at the last negotiation meeting.
But before he could enter the hotel, he saw the lobby doors pushed open and Lou Nanzhi come out!
Wei Guoxiong sneered inwardly.
So the tough front she put on over the phone yesterday was just that—only on the phone!
Face to face, she immediately caved!
Could it be she had been waiting in the hotel lobby for him all night?
“Wei Guoxiong! I made everything very clear to you on the phone yesterday. Why are you still here today? What’s your purpose?”
Lou Nanzhi stood directly in front of Wei Guoxiong.
Her face betrayed no trace of emotion; her tone was serious yet calm as she questioned him.
Wei Guoxiong, standing before Lou Nanzhi, finally took in her appearance.
His eyes scanned her up and down.
It was the first time he had seen her dressed like this.
She wore a dark blue professional suit, tailored perfectly to outline her slender figure, with lines that flowed smoothly yet exuded strength.
Beneath, a simple white blouse with one button at the collar undone just enough to maintain professionalism while revealing a hint of feminine grace.
A pair of nude stockings revealed her toned and supple legs.
On her feet were the black high heels Wei Guoxiong hadn’t seen her wear in decades.
Paired with delicate yet natural makeup.
Wei Guoxiong was nearly stunned!
Even the cleaning staff at this upscale hotel dressed so elegantly.
“Wei Guoxiong! If you have nothing to do, please leave!”

Only when Lou Nanzhi spoke again did Wei Guoxiong snap out of his daze.
“What do you mean ‘nothing to do’? I’m telling you, Lou Nanzhi, there’s no way you’re getting a divorce! Don’t think just because you’ve dressed like this, you can find a new place in the hotel. Society is brutal! Look in the mirror—you're fifty years old, still trying to act like a young girl in love? Stop dreaming in broad daylight and come back with me quickly. If you make me angry, you won’t even be able to step through the door!”
Wei Guoxiong had been furious when he received Lou Nanzhi’s call yesterday. It felt like a cat he had raised for years suddenly bit him.
Divorce was one thing; he could accept her venting her feelings. But he hadn’t expected her to want half the property like a lion’s roar.
Xiao Qing had worked hard to bear him two sons without ever asking for status or money.
Lou Nanzhi, who couldn’t even give him a son, where did she get the confidence?
Especially now, seeing Lou Nanzhi looking so glamorous only fueled his anger.
“Wei Guoxiong! Let go!”
Lou Nanzhi struggled fiercely to shake off Wei Guoxiong’s grasp.
She felt filthy.
She still vividly remembered the look of disdain in his eyes when she accidentally brushed against him.
“Wei Guoxiong! I’ve already made myself very clear. If you keep causing trouble, I’ll have to call security.”
Wei Guoxiong couldn’t believe his ears. Was this still the obedient wife he once knew?
He had come to her humbly, yet she was ungrateful?
Calling security and making a scene here would only harm him, Wei Guoxiong.
After the last negotiation meeting, several longtime partners had already proposed withdrawing their shares. If things blew up now at the Moonview Pavilion, it would be a fatal blow to Xiongfeng Daily Chemical.
He couldn’t even distinguish between benefits and harms, yet she wanted to act like a young person and start over on her own?
In the end, wouldn’t he still be the one cleaning up her mess?
“Take your filthy hands off me!”
As the two stood locked in tension outside the hotel, a low, cold voice came from behind Lou Nanzhi.
The voice seemed to carry a chill.
Turning around, Lou Nanzhi was surprised to see it was the old janitor who had gone to get her some porridge.
Though Fu Kun was dressed in a janitor’s uniform, for some reason his aura was incredibly strong.
“Oh? Another scavenger showing up? And you’re ordering me around?”
Wei Guoxiong looked up with contempt.
“Yes! I’m ordering you!”
“Old Fu!”

Lou Nanzhi didn’t want outsiders to get involved in her family disputes.
She had already realized Wei Guoxiong was unreasonable.
“Manager, we’re all hotel employees, and since you’re a woman, if someone is harassing you, I naturally have to stand up for you.”
Fu Kun’s voice was steady, as if he were stating something ordinary.
Standing beside her, Lou Nanzhi inexplicably felt a sense of security.
Even after thirty years of marriage to Wei Guoxiong, she had never felt this way.
So, manager?
Wei Guoxiong couldn’t believe Lou Nanzhi had found a temporary actor to team up against him just to spite him—and even called her “manager”?
A fifty-year-old woman being a manager at the most luxurious hotel in the capital?
Wei Guoxiong wouldn’t believe it even if he died.
“You lousy scavenger! Your acting is pretty convincing. How much did that woman pay you, a thousand or two? Do you know I can snap my fingers and toss coins hard enough to kill you? If you know what’s good for you, get lost.”
Wei Guoxiong found the actor’s arrogant words laughable.
He pressed the tip of his tongue against his cheek and slid it up and down.
A true street thug’s pose.
He wanted to see how Lou Nanzhi’s little performance would end.
“Old Fu, you better get back to work. This has nothing to do with you. I’ll explain the situation to him clearly; he won’t dare do anything to me.”
Lou Nanzhi knew it wasn’t easy for anyone to work as a janitor these days, so she didn’t want Old Fu caught up in her family matters, especially since Wei Guoxiong wouldn’t dare harm her.
The show must go on! Wei Guoxiong sneered.
But Fu Kun simply nodded lightly at Lou Nanzhi.
Then he pulled out his phone from his pocket and quickly dialed.
After a short while, he returned.
His expression stern as he looked at Wei Guoxiong, he asked:
“Are you really going to keep making a scene here?”
Wei Guoxiong replied, “You should worry more about yourself.”
Fu Kun sneered, “Fine! If you’ve got the guts, wait here for ten minutes!”
