Boom!

The Netherworld Purple Flame surged into Ke Bei’s body, instantly incinerating the violet energy into nothingness. Yet, despite this, Ke Bei, still unconscious, did not awaken immediately.

Buzz—

Suddenly, the golden tower embedded in Ke Bei’s brow trembled slightly, releasing a powerful suction force. The Netherworld Purple Flame circled twice inside Ke Bei’s body before being sealed back into the golden tower.

Though Ke Bei had successfully repelled a formidable God King-level adversary with the might of the purple flame, his condition was dire. Nearly all his life energy had been devoured by that purple force.

Not only were his muscles shriveled and atrophied, even his blood vessels and bones had withered. Coupled with the fact that his entire skeleton was shattered, he had slipped into a deep coma.

“Roar!”

“Howl!”

A series of piercing cries echoed suddenly. A pack of low-level beasts known as the Howling Moon Silver Wolves lumbered forward, their massive bodies swaying like calves, slowly approaching Ke Bei.

Had Ke Bei been conscious, these low-level beasts could be easily wiped out with a mere wave of his hand. But now, in his deep unconsciousness, he was utterly oblivious to everything around him.

“Roar!”

The Howling Moon Silver Wolves crept closer to the unconscious Ke Bei. Their silver-glinting fangs suddenly bared, and from their bloodthirsty maws exhaled a white mist heavy with the scent of blood.

Cautious light flickered in their crimson eyes as they carefully tread forward, muscles on all four legs taut, ready to flee at a moment’s notice.

Ten meters!

Eight meters!

Five meters!

The distance between the wolves and Ke Bei steadily diminished.

“Roar!”

“Howl!”

Dozens of Howling Moon Silver Wolves surrounded Ke Bei’s body, emitting low growls as they prepared to strike.

Yet Ke Bei remained with eyes tightly shut, trapped deep in his coma, entirely unaware of the fate that awaited him. Had he known that after all his hardships in repelling a God King-level foe, he was now about to be slain by a pack of low-level beasts, perhaps he might have chosen death at the hands of the God King instead.

“Roar!”

The wolves could no longer contain themselves. With a fierce roar, their powerful hooves slammed the ground, and they lunged toward the prostrate Ke Bei.

Bang! Bang!

As the beasts’ fangs bit fiercely into Ke Bei’s body, a harsh metallic ringing pierced the air.

Ke Bei had cultivated the first volume of the Indestructible Body technique; his skin was as hard as iron. Though his muscles were shriveled, even a mere layer of his faintly golden skin was beyond the biting power of these low-level beasts.

“Howl!”

Surprised by the hardness of this human’s skin, the wolves let out a mournful howl and charged madly at Ke Bei’s body.

Boom!

Ke Bei’s body was hurled into the air by the beasts’ impact and then slammed heavily onto the ground.

“Roar! Roar! Roar!”

The pack grew furious, repeatedly crashing into Ke Bei’s body. Each time, his body soared and then fell with a resounding thud.

Unknowingly, Ke Bei had been pushed closer and closer to a wide, roaring river.

“Roar!”

With another howl, the wolves charged once more, slamming into Ke Bei’s body with force. His body arced through the air in a parabolic trajectory before plunging heavily into the turbulent river below.

“Howl~”

Watching Ke Bei’s body swept away by the raging water, the wolves howled in frustration. After a moment’s hesitation, they slowly retreated.

Pop—

At the moment Ke Bei fell into the churning river, the Nine Suns Divine Energy within his dantian instinctively surged forth, instantly forming a faint protective membrane around his body. It pushed away the surrounding rushing waters, preventing him from drowning in his unconscious state.

“Primary Martial Arts Ultimate Task activated: cultivate the first secret technique of the Qitian Tower within three months. Upon completion, rewards include full scroll of Indestructible Body, full scroll of Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill, and an opportunity to claim a mysterious grand gift pack.”

While Ke Bei lay comatose, a crisp system notification echoed in his mind. Unfortunately, in his deep unconsciousness, he was unaware. Had he heard the reward, he surely would have leapt with excitement!

The full scroll of Indestructible Body, the full scroll of Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill, and a mysterious grand gift pack!

If he completed the task and gained these rewards, coupled with the Netherworld Purple Flame, even facing a God King-level adversary again, Ke Bei might not necessarily lose!

At present, Ke Bei had only obtained the upper scroll of Indestructible Body, enabling him to withstand attacks from high-level divine beings. If he could further cultivate the middle and lower scrolls, his defense would reach terrifying heights. Even a God King’s oppressive power would be unable to shatter his bones.

Now, Ke Bei’s strength rivaled that of two hundred ordinary men. Should he also refine the middle and lower scrolls of Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill, it was impossible to predict how formidable his power would become.

Alas, Ke Bei was oblivious to all this. He remained in a deep coma, with no telling when he might awaken. His eyes stayed tightly closed, his body cradled within the Nine Suns Divine Energy membrane, drifting downstream on the mighty river.

Going with the flow.

Three days passed.

When Ke Bei finally opened his eyes, the first sight to greet him was two towering mountains piercing the clouds. He lay in a small stream flowing between the peaks.

“Where am I?”

Ke Bei’s gaze wandered around in confusion, his cheeks etched with puzzlement. While he was unconscious, the Netherworld Purple Flame had continued battling the purple energy from the God King adversary; he had no idea he had repelled the God King or that his body had been battered into the river by a pack of low-level beasts.

Ke Bei tried to lift his arm, but a stabbing pain surged through him. Though the Nine Suns Divine Energy had some restorative effect, his injuries were grave. His entire skeleton was shattered. After three days of nurturing, his body had recovered somewhat, but moving even a finger remained impossible.

“Damn it! This hurts like hell.”

Lying beside the stream, half his body still soaked in the icy water, Ke Bei grimaced. The agony from shattered bones was beyond ordinary endurance. He forced a grin, deciding not to dwell on his location for now. The foremost priority was to restore his body.

“Phew…”

Taking a slow breath, Ke Bei closed his eyes again, allowing the Nine Suns Divine Energy in his dantian to flow gently.

Now, he could not even move a finger. Though the Qingling Elixir was stored in the pouch on his back, he was unable to retrieve it physically. He had to carefully control his inner energy to draw it out.

This was Ke Bei’s first attempt at such delicate inner energy manipulation. He proceeded cautiously, fearing he might accidentally break the jade vial. When he left the Jiujang Base, he had brought only three vials; one had been used destroying the divine clan’s stronghold, leaving just two. He had to be prudent.

An invisible force extended from Ke Bei’s inner energy toward the pouch on his back. Carefully, the intangible energy touched the jade vial, gently wrapping around it, slowly extracting it.

The jade vial floated as if held by an invisible hand, drifting softly toward Ke Bei’s lips.

“Glug!”

Ke Bei tilted his neck back and swallowed the entire contents of the Qingling Elixir in one gulp.

A cool liquid flowed down his throat, spreading a refreshing chill throughout his body. His fractured bones, withered muscles, and blood vessels began to slowly mend, nourished by the elixir.

The effect was astonishing. In moments, Ke Bei’s bones had healed, and his muscles and blood vessels returned to normal.

“Ahhh!”

Feeling his fully restored body, Ke Bei leapt up suddenly and howled toward the sky. His rich, resonant voice caused the towering ancient trees to sway gently. His hearty laughter echoed through the empty valley.

“This valley feels… off.”

Ke Bei’s eyes swept casually around as his brow knit slightly.

The valley was unnervingly silent—eerily so. His recent long howl had not stirred a single sound in the entire valley. Such stillness was abnormal.

Now, on Earth, apart from human base cities, everywhere was infested with zombies and beasts. This valley was clearly not a human base city, yet no zombies and no beasts were present.

This was deeply strange.

“Forget it, I’ll check around later.”

Ke Bei pondered for a moment, then shook his head slowly, his expression grave. This was the first time he had encountered such an unusual situation. When things are strange, there must be something amiss.

Though he sensed the valley’s strangeness, Ke Bei’s mind was preoccupied with system tasks.

Since he had completed the linked quests of the Nine Suns Divine Energy, the next task might already be presented. After his battle with the God King-level opponent, Ke Bei realized the vast gap between his strength and that of a God King.

Though the Nine Suns Divine Energy was formidable and made him nearly unbeatable at the Mortal Transcendence Realm, against a God King the disparity remained huge. To grow stronger, he must accept new tasks.

When Ke Bei received the system in his youth, vast knowledge of martial arts had been imprinted deep in his mind. He knew well the Nine Suns Divine Energy, while powerful, was only a low-level martial art.

To triumph over God King-level adversaries head-on, he needed advanced martial arts.

Ke Bei’s heart burned with urgency. Only by completing the ultimate task of primary martial arts would the system grant him the quest for advanced martial arts, giving him hope to acquire such power.

But the ultimate task for primary martial arts had yet to appear, and Ke Bei was impatient.

“Phew…”

Drawing a cold breath, Ke Bei closed his eyes and focused his mind on the system’s disk deep within his consciousness. When he saw the golden ancient characters flickering on the disk, he froze.

After a moment of stupefaction, a joyous expression he could no longer contain bloomed across his face.
