Chapter 120: It Is a Small World
When Chu Tianfeng and Du Jingjing arrived at the Group A competition zone, two people were already sparring on the stage.
One was a man, the other a woman. The man was handsome and dashing, while the woman... well, never mind that; she was veiled, leaving only a pair of large eyes visible. Fortunately, Chu Tianfeng had met her a few times and recognized her. Indeed, the young woman was Long Yue of the Long family.
Her opponent was a young man with a lower cultivation level, only at the mid-stage of the Transformation Realm. The outcome was predictable: the young man could only parry, having no power to strike back.
"This guy is a fool. Why doesn't he just concede when he's being beaten like that?" Chu Tianfeng couldn't help but question the young man's intelligence.
"I think you're the fool," a young man nearby replied, shooting Chu Tianfeng a look of disdain. "To be able to 'dance' with the goddess Long Yue is a tremendous honor. We can't even dream of such a thing."
"What? 'Dance'?" Chu Tianfeng felt as if his brain had been waterlogged, his cognitive functions failing.
"What else would it be? Do you really think a mid-stage and a late-stage Transformation Realm practitioner are actually fighting?" The young man turned away in contempt.
Du Jingjing giggled.
"Well, I'd like to see how long they can 'dance' then," Chu Tianfeng said, crossing his arms and watching the stage with interest.
No sooner had he spoken than the young man was sent flying off the stage like a kite with a broken string. Chu Tianfeng felt his brain suddenly clear, feeling refreshed.
"Lasting over a minute while dancing with the goddess Long Yue is already quite an achievement," the young man nearby remarked, seemingly justifying his own earlier comment.
"Exactly. A disciple from the Lushan Sect only lasted ten seconds dancing with Feng Ming-shuang earlier," another young man added.
"Have the Feng family's matches finished?" Du Jingjing interjected.
"Yes. Of the Long, Feng, and Wang families, only the Long family remains; the other two have finished and both qualified," the first young man replied, perhaps because he noticed Du Jingjing was a beauty.
"The Long family has won two straight matches and leads the group standings, so they've effectively qualified early," the man behind him added.
"Thank you!" Du Jingjing smiled slightly and pulled Chu Tianfeng along. "I didn't expect Group A to move so fast. I thought it would take until late, but it looks like it might be our turn after lunch."
Afterward, the two went to the edge of the square, bought a few lunch boxes and side dishes, and walked over to the Du family members.
"My second uncle Du Tiancai, my father Du Renzhi, my cousin Du Xuan, and my younger cousin Du Ming," Du Jingjing introduced them one by one. Finally, she pointed to a sullen-looking fat man in the corner. "Brother Yucheng is our Grandpa Bai's grandson; you should know him."
Chu Tianfeng bowed to Du Tiancai, Du Renzhi, and the others, including the fat man—Bai Yucheng—who was glaring at him viciously. The Du family's responses varied: Du Tiancai nodded with a smile, Du Renzhi nodded but his eyes were full of suspicion, while Du Xuan and Du Ming were all smiles, calling him "brother" enthusiastically. As for the fat man, he barely looked at Chu Tianfeng, offering only three words: "You absolute idiot!"
"Don't mind him; Brother Yucheng is just like that. He'll get over it later," Du Jingjing soothed. Otherwise, Chu Tianfeng wouldn't have minded dragging the fat man out to beat him again.
After lunch, they rested for about half an hour before returning to the ring. A few minutes later, the whistle blew, and the matches resumed.
"Fourteenth match, first round: Number 14, Yu Zhigao of the Heavenly Master Sect, versus Number 51, You Yong of the Tianmu Sect."
As the referee shouted, two figures—one tall, one short—leaped onto the stage. When Chu Tianfeng saw the face of the shorter man, his expression soured instantly. It was a small world! The short man was none other than the driver of the other Mercedes G-Wagon he had encountered on the road.
"What's wrong now?" Du Jingjing asked, knowing it wasn't good news.
"I had a minor friction with that short guy on the way to Peach Blossom Town," Chu Tianfeng shrugged.
"That's Yu Zhigao, the grandson of the Heavenly Master Sect's leader, Yu Shigui. How did you manage to provoke him?" Despite her expectations, Du Jingjing was still speechless.
"The Heavenly Master Sect?" Chu Tianfeng smiled faintly. "That guy is hypersensitive. I just overtook his car, and he kept trying to mess with me endlessly. I tried to be patient, but he wouldn't let it go."
Chu Tianfeng was no stranger to the Heavenly Master Sect. He had quite a history with them, having killed members like Yu Xianze and Tong Hanwen, and recently, he had "taken care of" Yu Zhigao's brother, Yu Zhiyuan.
"Would you willingly let someone mess with you?" Du Jingjing said, not believing it for a second.
"Miss, he had a peak-stage Transformation Realm expert in his car. What could I do?" Chu Tianfeng smiled bitterly. If not for that expert, he would have left Yu Zhigao crippled.
"What? Mo Wannian was in the car?" Du Jingjing gasped.
Just then, You Yong of the Tianmu Sect was knocked off the stage, drawing laughter from the crowd.
"The peak-stage expert is named Mo Wannian?" Chu Tianfeng shrugged. "So what if he was in the car? I ended up running them into a field anyway."
"Wow! Brother, you're so cool!" the fat man beside them gave Chu Tianfeng a thumbs up. Du Jingjing glared at him, and the fat man immediately turned and fled.
"You're in big trouble. This is the territory of the Heavenly Master Sect, and Mo Wannian is supposed to escort us to the valley entrance tomorrow," Du Jingjing said, looking at the fat man's retreating back with annoyance.
Chu Tianfeng pondered for a moment. "It's fine, I'll find a way to avoid him." He had intended to go solo anyway; he had a map and didn't need to worry about finding the place.
"Don't try to be a hero. If it's too much, I'll ask my second uncle to send you," Du Jingjing said, sensing his intent. Having spent time together, she understood him well.
"No, thank you," Chu Tianfeng shook his head. He didn't like troubling others, and he didn't trust Du Tiancai. After all, Du Tiancai was not Du Jingjing.
Laughter erupted again from the crowd as another person was knocked off the stage.
"Jingjing, it's almost time," Du Xuan said, walking over. "You should get ready."
Du Jingjing looked at Chu Tianfeng helplessly and turned toward the ring. Soon, the fourteenth match concluded. As expected, Yu Zhigao took first place, qualifying alongside You Yong. Before leaving, Yu Zhigao pointed a finger at Chu Tianfeng, mimicking a gun, before walking off to thunderous applause.
The referee announced: "Fifteenth match, first round: Du Jingjing versus Xie Fusheng of the Langya Sect."
The applause was even more enthusiastic, mixed with whistles and cheers. "Wow, another beauty! Luck is on our side today!" someone exclaimed.
"Finally, we get to see her face. Too difficult!" another grumbled.
"I heard the Great Benevolence Hall wanted Du Xuan to compete, but Du Jingjing volunteered to treat everyone to a show," someone whispered.
Xie Fusheng was tall with a square face, his cultivation average—mid-stage Transformation Realm. However, his mouth was incredibly active, constantly calling out, "Miss Du," "Sister Du."
"Sister Du, what are your hobbies?" "Miss Du, have you ever been to the Northwest grasslands?"
Finally, he asked if she was free that night, offering to show her the night view of Peach Blossom Town. Du Jingjing, losing patience, didn't even bother with a probe; she struck with her right palm, aiming straight for his center.
"Sister Du..." Xie Fusheng was still trying to suggest dinner when he suddenly saw a slender hand approaching with a fierce gust of wind! He hurriedly crossed his arms to defend.
*Bang!*
Xie Fusheng was pushed back several steps, his blood surging. In just one strike, he knew his opponent's cultivation was higher.
Du Jingjing followed up immediately with a second strike. Same palm, same target! Xie Fusheng had no choice but to take it head-on. *Bang!* He was sent flying back to the edge of the stage.
Du Jingjing closed the distance and sent a third palm. Xie Fusheng groaned, crossed his arms again, and took the hit! *Bang!* He was knocked off the stage, triggering another roar of laughter.
"Two minutes! Haha!" "You almost broke the record, Brother Xie!"
"First round, Du Jingjing wins!" the referee announced.
In the second and third rounds, Du Jingjing faced Zhao Weimin of the Wuyi Sect and Jiang Huairen of the Wushan Gate. Neither lasted more than three moves. Zhao Weimin was the most relaxed, conceding after just one strike. Surprisingly, he ended up defeating Xie Fusheng and Jiang Huairen, taking second place and qualifying alongside Du Jingjing.
Later, while the Du family handled the registration for the secret realm, Chu Tianfeng went back to the Group B zone to watch the fat man. Without Chu Tianfeng around, the fat man's "Ticket Fist" went smoothly. After knocking out a mid-stage master and another challenger, he proceeded to win three consecutive matches. The first two won him 300,000 each, but the third time he faced the bandit-like Huang Zaihui, he was heavily squeezed for 500,000.
