Yadina, who had been sound asleep, slowly opened her eyes and took in the scene before her.
So dark...
It didn’t feel like home...
It seemed as if something was carrying her along...
!!!
In an instant, a sudden realization flashed through Yadina’s mind!
The great monkey! She had been snatched from her home by the great monkey!
Yadina’s heart trembled violently. She struggled fiercely in Xiayang’s grasp, and a strong purple glow instantly enveloped her. At the same time, she pleaded:
“Please, don’t eat me! Don’t eat me! I’m small and skinny! Go eat my servant instead! He’s got more meat on him!”
Xiayang: “???”
Though puzzled by what Yadina was trying to do, he noticed her body gradually glowing brightly.
Quickly, he twisted the hand holding Yadina behind her back, positioning her to face the ghost and Wang Li, while turning her back to himself.
At the moment the flash of light appeared, he made a swift dash toward a fork in the path!
This way, he hoped to escape smoothly!
Filled with intense fear, Yadina released all the magical energy she had accumulated over the past few days. She shouted:
“Time, stop!”
And then, something miraculous happened!
An invisible ripple spread outwards. Xiayang looked back curiously, only to see Wang Li and his ghostly form, who had been chasing them closely, suddenly frozen in place, unable to move an inch!
Shock flashed across Xiayang’s face as he glanced up at Su Yixue sitting on his shoulder. Her expression seemed frozen in time, and her body was equally immobile, though still soft.
“Could it be that only my time hasn’t stopped?” Xiayang pondered silently, but his feet never ceased their movement.
However, the time freeze lasted only two or three seconds. Su Yixue’s body twitched slightly as the effect wore off.
Those few seconds felt like a blink to her, gone in an instant.
At the same moment, Wang Li also regained movement. Seeing this, Sherry, who had been trailing behind Xiayang, swiftly turned her gaze to the ghost. In the next moment, a layer of ice appeared beneath Wang Li’s feet, freezing him to the ground!

Then Sherry shifted her attention to the ghost, and in the blink of an eye, the entire ghostly body was encased in ice!
The frozen ghost could no longer continue flying and crashed to the ground with a sharp sound, tumbling several times.
Seeing this, Wang Li glanced back at Zhang Biao and his group, who were closing in, then looked toward Xiayang and Su Yixue nearing the corner of a narrow alley. He grit his teeth and stomped his foot...
He simply clenched his jaw. At this point, he no longer cared about attack range. He immediately gave the order for the ghost to explode!
The small ghost instantly swelled to several times its normal size, growing over a meter tall. In the blink of an eye, its body burst like a punctured balloon!
“Boom—!”
The explosion spread in a semicircle from the ground outward, green flames swiftly engulfing the entire alley. The deafening roar shook the surroundings, setting off car alarms and electronic sirens throughout the street!
Not only were the facilities inside the alley instantly destroyed, but cracks appeared on the ground and walls in an instant.
At the moment the ghost swelled, Xiayang placed Yadina into the pocket at his chest.
He wanted to hold Su Yixue to his chest as well; after all, she was his employer, and as a man, his physique was undoubtedly stronger than hers.
However, although Xiayang was fast, the shockwave was faster!
Just as he turned Su Yixue around, the shockwave carrying dozens of bricks of various sizes struck Xiayang instantly. His clothes on his back were torn to shreds, his flesh bruised and scratched!
Gritting his teeth, Xiayang endured the pain and kept running forward. Yet another brick, roughly the size of a fist, hit the back of his head near the crown.
This time, Xiayang could no longer hold on. He groaned softly, his limbs weakened, eyes darkening as his mind crashed!
His body pitched forward, about to fall, but Su Yixue caught the ground with both hands in time, saving their once beautiful and handsome faces.
Fortunately, Xiayang fell right at the corner of the alley, preventing further injury.
Su Yixue clenched her silver teeth tightly, some of her own body also bloodied and bruised, though it was minor compared to Xiayang’s injuries.
Ignoring the pain, she pushed herself free from Xiayang’s shoulders, knelt on the ground, and covered his head with both hands.
Calling his name repeatedly, but seeing no sign of awakening, her heart skipped a beat, panic flashing across her face.
Outside, the explosion had ceased. Within a five-meter radius, the area lay in ruins, and signs of the shockwave’s devastation extended nearly thirty to forty meters.
“You little bastard, finally caught you!” Zhang Biao had caught up and, spotting Wang Li standing unscathed at the explosion’s center, roared in anger.
He lunged forward, pinning Wang Li to the ground, then unleashed a barrage of fists like rain!
This little brat—he hadn’t expected it would take an entire night to catch him!

Zhang Biao wanted to land a few more blows but suddenly heard an urgent cry for help nearby.
He paused, recognition dawning—it was Sister Su’s voice!
He immediately rose from Wang Li and dashed towards Su Yixue, shouting back to his companions:
“Break his limbs! Snap all his tendons in his hands and feet!”
...
When Xiayang woke again, he found himself in a hospital room.
The air was tinged with the scent of disinfectant, and medical equipment beeped steadily. Looking out the window, the sun shone brightly, warm and comforting.
“Young man, you’re awake!” a voice full of surprise sounded beside him. Turning his head, Xiayang saw a middle-aged man sitting on a chair by his bedside.
“What happened to me?”
“They said you were hit in the head by a brick, but luckily, you’re incredibly fortunate. You only suffered a concussion and no damage to the back of your brain,” Su Guodong said with a faint smile.
He was holding an apple in one hand and a fruit knife in the other, carefully peeling it.
After peeling, he sliced the apple into pieces and placed them into two bowls—one on Xiayang’s bedside table and the other on the adjacent one.
Having done this, he stood, bowed slightly to Xiayang, and spoke sincerely: “Thank you for your efforts in protecting my niece. I also want to express my sincere apologies for Su Yixue’s impulsive decision that led to your injury.”
“I, Su Guodong, owe you a favor on her behalf. If you ever need help, don’t hesitate to come to me!”
“Please don’t—” Xiayang was taken aback. This man was at least his former superior; he couldn’t possibly accept such a favor!
He tried to stand up to stop him but was immediately stopped by a sharp pain, especially in his back, forcing him to give up.
Watching Su Guodong’s demeanor, Xiayang felt a strange sense of familiarity. Then it came to him...
Wasn’t this the sort of plot that appeared in those over-the-top novels?
Saving a wealthy heiress, gaining the powerful backing of a prestigious family, and then using that influence to dominate the city, the world, even countless realms...
Could he really do it?
