Volume 1 Chapter 24: Can Monsters Catch Bird Flu Too?
Ten minutes later, a gleam of light sparked in Song Jie’s eyes.
Feng Yi’s heart skipped a beat as a cold glint flashed; suddenly, the blade recoiled and pressed firmly against her own throat.
He was not buried alongside the ancestors of the Chu family. Perhaps it was due to his early years of defiance against orthodoxy, or perhaps Wang Hong felt that the cold cliff overlooking Beacon Ridge was his true final resting place.
The venom of the golden silkworm is lethal, causing agonizing pain in the chest and abdomen. The victim swells up like a jar and dies bleeding from all seven orifices.
Although the steamed bun had arrived unexpectedly, the impact of its flavor was undeniably real. As Song Duanwu, unable to refuse the plump maid, took the first bite of the red bean bun under her expectant gaze, the sensation on his taste buds was already reflected in his eyes.
The Death Swamp is renowned throughout the entire Continent of Stein; it is one of the four great forbidden zones. Even for those of Saint-level strength, the chance of surviving a crossing is less than half, let alone for those who have yet to reach that level.
Anyone could see that the blow was heavy and ruthless. Huang Guoqiang’s head jerked, sending his entire body sliding two or three meters sideways before he crashed heavily onto the pristine floor.
"That will never do! There are so many traps here! No, I must accompany you all the way!" Lu Shuang gripped my arm, speaking with firm resolve.
She lifted her slightly hazy eyes to look at him. His face was as gentle as a spring breeze, filled with a soft smile and radiant confidence, as if he were not about to embark on an incredibly dangerous battle, but rather to receive the adoration of the masses. There was not a trace of sadness or melancholy, only a face full of hope and expectation.
"Let us use disguises before we go out to take a look," Zhu Xingyun said calmly, as if all of this had been expected.
"Him? He treats every drop of wine like a mortal enemy; I certainly wouldn't count on him being willing," Xie Junhe drained his cup and let out a cold, mocking laugh.
Ye Mu huddled at the edge of the bed, his gaze fixed blankly on the floor. When Li Jiu entered, his body suddenly half-rose, and he stared at the door in terror. Upon recognizing Li Jiu, he let out a sigh of relief as if he had narrowly escaped death, lay back down, and lowered his eyes to continue staring at the floor.
With a "shoo" sound, a red light emerged from beside the cave entrance. Immediately following a flash of crimson, the two vanished from the spot.
"He Yumo, I am speaking to you seriously," a grave expression flashed across Murong Chen’s face.
"You jest, Father. If we are talking about being carefree, who could compare to you? So carefree that you can even abandon your wife and children!" Murong Zhaoyun said with biting sarcasm, which left Empress Qin feeling quite displeased.
"Boom." A noise erupted from downstairs. Ke’er did not hear it, but Le Tian and his companion, both possessing strong cultivation, heard it clearly. It was the sound of tables and chairs shattering. The two reacted instantly: someone was causing trouble.
With his heart in turmoil, Chu Yan could no longer face the composed Murong Zhaoyun. Overwhelmed by fear, he abandoned his plan to execute Murong Zhaoyun on the spot and dashed out the door.
Before arriving here, she had already completed all her preparations. Never mind basic information; she even knew a great deal about highly classified matters.
In truth, ever since giving birth to Yi Jiazhen, Zhang Ru’s health had been steadily declining. Once she realized the state of her body, she had spoken with Yi Chengxiu. She did not want her child to be born without a father, nor did she want the child to be an orphan after she passed away.
Yet, to climb higher meant that one day death would come, so the most direct way to protect her son was to remain in obscurity in a corner of the deep palace, eventually to be forgotten.
