Chapter 127: Fifty Years, the Vast Palm that Supports the Heavens, Where Grudges and Hatreds Dissolve!

Lu Wufei raised his wine cup. Sitting nearby, the rabbit demon Hu Meinang and the large bear demon immediately smiled and lifted their cups as well. After downing their drinks in one go, Lu Wufei continued chatting casually with Bai Yunxiao. Hu Meinang and the bear demon simply sat quietly to the side. Hu Meinang was somewhat interested in Bai Yunxiao’s sworn brother, the mysterious great demon before them, and planned to inquire more about this formidable demon surnamed Bai upon returning. Just sitting there, observing the other’s handsome appearance and the aura completely different from other demon kings and great demons, Hu Meinang did not feel bored.
But for the bear demon, it was pure torment to sit at the wine table. Not only could he not leave, but he also dared not show a trace of dissatisfaction or resentment on his face. From the terrifying aura and power Bai Lang had displayed earlier, the bear demon guessed that Bai Lang was likely already at the realm of a demon king. Moreover, General Bai was present, and this was the General’s cave. Under such circumstances, he could neither leave nor show disrespect—he had to endure and keep company. Today was supposed to be his day of triumph, having just advanced to the rank of Demon Marshal, a time to be proud and imposing. Instead, he had to sit here, stifled and cautious, forced to drink and smile. The frustration and humiliation boiled within him.
The bear demon clenched his teeth and roared inwardly, “Bai Lang, you’d better not let the day come when I surpass you in cultivation!” Lu Wufei was oblivious to the bear demon’s thoughts and raised his cup again, “Come, drink.” The bear demon immediately snapped out of his anger, forced a grim smile, and lifted his wine bowl.
Meanwhile, on a nearby mountain peak, near the summit, a cave flickered with firelight. Outside the cave entrance, a few small demons huddled around a small bonfire to warm themselves. Suddenly, footsteps approached. The gatekeepers stood up and saw several figures walking along the mountain path. “Leader Hei,” one gatekeeper shouted. The bulky figure covered in sharp black armor nodded without stopping, heading directly into the noisy cave ahead. The small demons he brought stopped at the entrance and sat by the fire with the gatekeepers.
Inside the cave, at the head seat, a burly wild boar demon named Hong Ya was eating meat silently. Nearby, three demon leaders—the handsome raven demon, Huang Gui, and the snake demon Li Si—were engaged in a drinking contest. Wandashan chatted casually with a nearby cat demon while poking the fire. Although lively, the atmosphere was somewhat heavy. Since the afternoon, after the voice of former leader Bear Bear, the bear demon, echoed across Langlang Mountain, the mood inside had grown somber.
When the footsteps arrived, the red-skinned Hong Ya immediately lifted his head, his aura surging. Seeing the white figure rushing in, his pupils dilated, and he quickly stood, spreading his arms. The white figure collided with the large boar demon, pushing him back several steps before being caught. The surrounding demon leaders reacted with surprise, exclaiming as they recognized the small silver-white white rat with sparkling black eyes held in Hong Ya’s arms.
“小白!” “Xiao Bai, you’ve finally returned!” “Where have you been all these years?” “Did you find big brother?” As they reached out excitedly, Xiao Bai quickly climbed onto Hong Ya’s shoulder, wary of the crowd. “Enough, don’t scare Xiao Bai!” Hong Ya raised his hand to stop the approaching raven demon and said, “Let me ask him.” Looking at the white rat, he asked, “Xiao Bai, did you find big brother?” Without hesitation, Xiao Bai squeaked, “Squeak!”
Hong Ya’s face lit up with joy, suppressing his excitement, “Where is big brother now? Did you come back with him?” All the demons watched the white rat intently as it continued squeaking. Those who could understand immediately cheered. The raven demon, still confused, asked anxiously, “What did Xiao Bai say? Tell me!” Wandashan, overhearing, excitedly explained, “Father has returned. He is now drinking in General Bai’s cave!”
The raven demon’s face brightened instantly, and nearby demons like the ant demon Hei Ya and the cat demon San Niang were similarly overjoyed. They had long been under General Bai’s command and were considered part of his faction. When General Bai had brought them back to Langlang Mountain after the great war, he had allowed them to keep their small demons and live normally on the mountain, continuing their missions.

Thus, this large group of demons was known as the Taiping Mountain faction. They had been uneasy since the news that the former leader Bear Bear had advanced to become a general, especially knowing his old grudges with General Bai. Hearing that General Bai had returned now, how could they not be happy? As for the only relatively new leader in the cave, the snake demon Li Si, he had long heard tales of General Bai’s heroic deeds and was both surprised and hopeful at his return. He was eager to see the mighty general spoken of by the small demons—the big brother of the red-skinned leader.
Before Xiao Bai’s arrival, everyone’s faces were heavy and spirits low. Now, joy and excitement filled the cave. The demon leaders felt the thrill of an unexpected blessing. “Let’s go! Big brother has returned!” “What’s there to fear from that bear now!” The raven demon exclaimed excitedly, “Let’s go find big brother now!” The others looked toward Hong Ya, who nodded, “Brother’s right. Let’s go find big brother!” Leading the group, Hong Ya headed out of the cave.
“Leader! Leader!” The gatekeepers quickly rose and called after him. Hong Ya paused at the cave entrance and said, “Bear Bear becoming a general means many leaders will be at their banquet.” Turning to Huang Gui, he instructed, “Fourth brother, quietly scout who has gone.” “We’ll wait for you in front of the General’s cave.” Huang Gui immediately understood, nodded, and flew off in a black wind.
“Let’s go find big brother.” Watching Huang Gui depart swiftly, Hong Ya’s footsteps stirred mist as he flew toward the main mountain. The other demon leaders followed, stepping on black clouds and smoke, while the small demons transformed and hurried along.
Before long, Hong Ya and his group arrived in front of the General’s cave. Seeing Hong Ya, the gatekeepers approached, exchanged words, and then entered the cave. Inside, noticing the noise at the entrance, Lu Wufei glanced at Bai Yunxiao, who understood immediately and looked at the restless bear demon. “Today is a good day for Leader Bear,” Bai Yunxiao said. “He won’t be kept here.”
Hearing this, Bear Bear was delighted. After greeting Bai Yunxiao, Hu Meinang, and Lu Wufei, he strode out of the cave. Lu Wufei softly exhaled, sending a nearly invisible white wolf hair flying swiftly toward Bear Bear. Seeing him leave, Hu Meinang knew it was time to go and raised her wine cup once more.
Outside the General’s cave, Bear Bear strode out and saw the waiting Taiping Mountain demons—Hong Ya, the raven demon, and others. Given his temperament and status, he did not want to acknowledge them, but thinking of the terrifying Bai Lang inside, he forced a smile and said to the former comrade leading the group, “Leader Hong came to see General Bai. He is inside.”
Though unsure of Bear Bear’s true intent, Hong Ya smiled and replied. Bear Bear nodded and turned, his face darkening as he ascended, riding black smoke into the sky. His expression was so grim it seemed almost liquid.
“What should I do?” he pondered. “Should I secretly inform the Three Great Kings that Bai Lang has returned? If I do, there will be no way back with Bai Lang, and General Bai may also be displeased with me. But Bai Lang threatens my life—this is more important than the General’s displeasure. Now that I am a Demon Marshal, a general, Bai Lang certainly senses my threat. Even if I try to hide it, Bai Lang won’t believe me.”
“I cannot entrust my safety to the kindness or mercy of my enemy—especially that cunning Bai Lang. If I tell the Three Great Kings about Bai Lang’s return and our enmity, they will surely protect me. After all, I am now a general with merits.”
“Yes, that’s what I’ll do! I’ll go to the Three Great Kings now and inform them about that white wolf brat’s return. No, wait—Bai Lang’s power is too great now. If I leave rashly, I’ll be discovered. I’ll wait until late at night, when their guard is down, then leave Langlang Mountain to meet the Three Great Kings!”
Having made up his mind, Bear Bear flew toward his quarters. Inside the General’s cave, Bai Yunxiao watched Hu Meinang leave, then said, “Once they leave, the Three Great Kings won’t hide the news of the younger brother’s return for long.” Lu Wufei clinked cups with Bai Yunxiao and drank, shaking his head. “I never planned to keep it from them for long.”
“Brother, summon your small demons,” Lu Wufei said, setting down his cup and picking up his chopsticks. Bai Yunxiao hesitated. Bai Lang had already instructed him to send his small demons away to avoid trouble in the coming war. Summoning them now would mean cutting ties with the Great Wild Mountain and the Three Great Kings. They would become enemies.
In a flash, Bai Yunxiao’s mind was flooded with memories from the years on the Great Wild Mountain—some allies, some brothers. The choice was not difficult. After a moment’s thought, he decided, “Do as you say.” Turning, he ordered the nearby leader Yang Changxu, “Go, summon all demons of Langlang Mountain!” Changxu, sensing urgency, nodded solemnly and hurried out.
Outside the cave, Changxu passed the waiting Hong Ya a faintly glowing whistle, which he blew forcefully. The long, haunting whistle echoed from their position at the General’s cave, spreading in all directions across Langlang Mountain.
“That’s the whistle to summon all small demons,” the raven demon said, looking up at Changxu. “Why is General Bai calling them now?” “I don’t know,” Hong Ya murmured, frowning at the whistleblower. “Maybe it has something to do with big brother.”

“What?” The raven demon strained to hear but was cut off by Huang Gui’s return. Meanwhile, the whistle spread swiftly across the Langlang Mountain territory. Demons who were eating, playing, drinking, mating, or sleeping all looked up toward the main mountain. Amid murmurs, they set aside their tasks and began gathering.
Halfway up a nearby peak, a lively open-air banquet was underway. The demons, enjoying their feast, fell silent at the whistle, though grumbling inwardly. Nevertheless, in public, they obediently abandoned their wine and meat, bidding farewell to Bear Bear, now General Bear, seated at the main position.
Watching the departing demons and the now-empty banquet site, the irritable bull demon Changwei scowled angrily. Bear Bear, however, grew anxious. “The general has called us for something important. You should go!” he urged. “If anyone asks, say I was delayed and will arrive late!” After sending off his sworn third brother and subordinates, Bear Bear hesitated.
“Could this be a trap? If I go along, will I have the chance to report Bai Lang’s return to the Three Great Kings? No, I can’t wait till late night!” Resolving at last, Bear Bear surged away on a rolling cloud of black smoke, flying rapidly in the opposite direction of the main mountain. Fortunately, the Three Great Kings’ residence lay that way. Bear Bear felt a flicker of hope and sped off.
Inside the General’s cave, Lu Wufei noticed the unusual movement of a wolf hair he had left on Bear Bear and said, “Brother, your territory faces west. Where does it lead?”
“To the territory of the Earth Dragon General, and beyond that, the Three Great Kings’ residence.”
Bai Yunxiao caught the implication and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Lu Wufei smiled, “Bear Bear unknowingly carried one of my hairs. I found that when all the demons gathered toward the main mountain, he alone flew westward, and at a fast pace.”
“Westward!?” Bai Yunxiao’s expression darkened immediately.
Lu Wufei’s defection was no secret on the Great Wild Mountain. Now that Bear Bear flew west against the summons, his intention was clear: to secretly inform. Lu Wufei had hoped to reason with Bear Bear about his feud with Bai Lang, but Bear Bear was acting unilaterally, ignoring their fraternal ties.
Bai Yunxiao’s face showed disappointment. Lu Wufei said, “We can’t let the three demons know I have arrived yet. I’ll return and apologize to you later.” Saying this, he turned and left the cave, rapidly shifting back to his half-demon form.
“Big brother!” “Big brother!” “Father!” Outside, Hong Ya, the raven demon, Huang Gui, and Wandashan shouted excitedly. But Lu Wufei had no time for reunion. Smiling at his familiar brothers, he said, “Wait for me. I have something to handle first.” Then he transformed into a streak of azure light, shooting toward the western sky.
Though puzzled by his words, the demons watching him knew in their hearts that their brother had become much stronger. Tracking the movement of his wolf hair, Lu Wufei flew swiftly westward. In just twenty or thirty breaths, he spotted a robust figure speeding low along the forested mountain.
Bear Bear felt a sudden surge of danger and heard a rushing sound behind him. Turning, he saw a blue light rapidly closing in. In an instant, the blue-robed figure materialized—a graceful, ethereal presence—it was Bai Lang, the one who had been drinking in the General’s cave.
“Why?” Bear Bear shouted. “Why, when you have reached such a realm? You promised General Bai! Why do you want to kill me!?” At that moment, Bear Bear stopped questioning how Bai Lang had learned so quickly or caught up so fast. He vented the frustration and anger that had bottled up inside for so long.
“Why?” Bai Lang sneered at the foolish question. “You should be asking why you are out so late!?” “You’re trying to inform someone, right!?” “If that’s so, killing you means I can explain myself to my brother!” “Bear Bear, though I was wrong at first, your revenge is the root of our hatred!” “Our fifty years of grudges end today!”
Without delay, Bai Lang raised a massive hand formed from spiritual energy and slammed it down on Bear Bear. “No!” Bear Bear roared, desperately raising a shield of flowing light before him. But resistance was futile. Absolute power brought absolute domination. The giant hand crushed him unerringly.
“Boom!” Spirit energy surged, shaking the earth and mountains. The silent night sky was left with a deep, enormous imprint of a giant hand on the mountain’s surface.
Bai Lang withdrew the shattered bear corpse from the imprint, which rapidly transformed back into Bear Bear’s massive true form. Turning westward, Bai Lang swept his sleeve and transformed into a blue light, flying toward Langlang Mountain.
