While the White-Faced Third King of the Great Wilderness Mountain was wantonly slaughtering the generals and marshal monsters under Hou Jun's command from the Wind and Cloud Ridge, six figures stood high above the valley battlefield, suspended in midair, quietly observing the unfolding carnage.

These six were, naturally, the two demon kings of Great Wilderness Mountain and the four demon kings of Wind and Cloud Ridge. Despite the fierce winds raging around them, their robes and ornate garments remained untouched, unmoved, and the atmosphere thickened with a suffocating gravity.

"Old Yuan, given your third brother's status..." At last, the leader of Wind and Cloud Ridge, the Devouring Tiger Demon King, spoke in a slow, low voice, "Is it possible to borrow the Black-Feathered Azure Wind Fan from the Eagle King?"

Yuan Zhang, the eldest king of Great Wilderness Mountain, with his ancient countenance and high crown, smiled lightly and replied, "It's merely a high-grade magical treasure. No need for status—just offer a worthy price and it can be yours."

The Devouring Tiger Demon King shook his head. "Without the proper status, you can't even meet the Eagle King. Persisting would risk your life on Eagle Mountain."

"Who in ten thousand miles doesn't know that old eagle once served as an official in the northern Lion Camel Kingdom?"

"You say offer a worthy price, are you jesting, Old Yuan?"

"Other than you, who in Great Wilderness Mountain could borrow that fan from the old eagle?"

Yuan Zhang continued to smile and shake his head. "Believe me or not, as you wish. But your third brother's generals are nearly all dead, aren't they?"

"This battle, Great Wilderness Mountain has won. Do you admit it?"

...

Back in the valley battlefield, time crept forward. As the newly promoted general Bai Yunxiao hunted down the leaders of Wind and Cloud Ridge's marshal monsters, Lu Fei was relentlessly pursuing the small demons fleeing for their lives.

The battle was clearly drawing to its end. Who knew when he would again encounter such a grand-scale fight? Now was the time to gain as much soul energy and experience as possible. Rather than seeking out the stronger marshal monsters, he targeted the smaller demons, for they could be killed swiftly.

One swing, one kill; one strike, another falls—as if he were whacking moles or smashing watermelons. There was no particular technique or form to his stickwork, but the ease with which he split open heads was exhilaratingly smooth for Lu Fei.

He was quite satisfied, though he found himself repeatedly tempted to stab with the iron rod, a habit left over from his days wielding a spear. He resolved to correct this.

"Look..."
"Over there..."
"Another general has fallen...?"

Just as Lu Fei smashed the head of a pangolin demon at the edge of the valley forest with his iron rod, cries of alarm erupted from the nearby small demons.

Lu Fei immediately followed the direction indicated by the small demons and saw, in the distant sky, yet another colossal demon body plummeting from above. The thunderous crash reached his ears only a dozen breaths after it struck the ground.

"How many generals have died tonight?"
"The fifth one..."
"This time our king is certain to win..."
"Are you out of your mind? Haven't we already won?"
"..."

The idle chatter of small demons, now tidying the battlefield, drifted through the scene.

Lu Fei picked up the short axe wielded by the pangolin demon whose skull he had shattered, stowed it away in his storage space, and after a moment's hesitation, collected the demon's corpse as well. This pangolin demon was a mid-tier monster soldier; its armor, once stripped, could serve as two fine suits for his own subordinates.

That thought made Lu Fei sigh. As a mere low-level marshal monster, he still had to worry about matters fit for a general.

Having gathered his spoils, Lu Fei stood at the edge of the forest, gazing at the monsters fleeing deeper within. His storage ability was nearly full, and he hesitated whether to pursue.

At that moment, a sudden, inexplicable sense of foreboding seized him, causing his expression to change instantly. Without a moment's pause, he darted swiftly into the forest.

The very next second, behind him, a gigantic foot descended from the heavens, crashing onto the valley battlefield.

Boom!

The explosive impact sent a massive wave of energy surging through the area, flinging Lu Fei dozens of meters into the air, tumbling him through the forest.

When he finally regained his footing, shaken and breathless, he saw the valley battlefield had been utterly devastated—corpses strewn everywhere.

Whether the monsters of Wind and Cloud Ridge lying prone or the ones from Great Wilderness Mountain busy hauling corpses, all had been flattened, crushed, and pressed deep into the mud.

Broken limbs, mangled flesh, blood mingled with dirt—it was impossible to tell what was what.

Too tragic.

Too horrific to behold.

Lu Fei had witnessed countless brutal scenes since arriving in this savage, violent, and merciless realm of monsters, ruled by the law of the jungle.

But this scene—this was the most shocking, the most terrifying.

The few monsters whose bodies remained intact were pressed flat like human hides, barely recognizable. Most had simply been obliterated, their remains fused with sand and soil.

"Hou Jun, you even dare strike against small demons? You are despicable and shameless... unworthy of a demon king!"

At that moment, the Third King roared furiously from the distant sky.

"Haha..."
Suspended above the battlefield, the red-haired Hou Jun laughed arrogantly. "This is war between us. Is there a rule forbidding us from striking small demons?"

"No, right?"

"If you can't protect your own, that's your failure, not mine!"

"But this battle—I have already won!"

The White-Faced Third King of Great Wilderness Mountain shot over at lightning speed, his voice fierce. "Your ranks are down to a single surviving general, and over ninety percent of your small demons have been lost!"

"From the moment I drove you away, you were defeated!"

"So, Wind and Cloud Ridge..."

Here, the White-Faced Third King turned a cold gaze on Hou Jun, mocking, "Is it that you can't accept defeat?"

"Me, unable to accept defeat?!"

Hou Jun's face flushed red, his true form revealed—a red-faced monkey, now scratching his head and shrieking, "Ah! Ah! I am not unable to accept defeat, I simply have not yet lost!"

Hou Jun roared, "We have not yet determined victory between us—how can I have lost?"

The White-Faced Third King erupted, "Victory between us? Are you joking? When did we ever need to decide the outcome between ourselves? Isn't it always that whichever side's small demons are wiped out, that side loses?"

"That is the rule!"

"Rule?"

Now composed, Hou Jun sneered, "The rule I speak of is that victory must be decided between us. Only then does this wagered battle count as resolved..."

"That is the rule of Wind and Cloud Ridge!"

White-Faced was infuriated to laughter. "Clearly you never intended to honor the wager—you mean to toy with Great Wilderness Mountain?"

"My third brother was right, wasn't he?"

High above, Yuan Zhang, the grand demon king of Great Wilderness Mountain, looked down at the commotion and turned to the Devouring Tiger Demon King of Wind and Cloud Ridge, smiling, "Are you toying with us?"
