Chapter 101: The Avenger Comes Calling
"Steven, don't tell me that this is what you and Ou were discussing in the hospital room just now." Cameron pointed toward the ground, which was nearly destroyed, and the skeleton that looked as if it had been dead for decades.
"Indeed. Ou told me that New Town has this so-called Holy Blood Council, and they possess such abilities. At first, I didn't believe it, but you've seen the situation this time, haven't you? You believe it now, don't you, Cameron? Do you remember your childhood dream?"
"A car rolling on the ground and transforming into a robot?" Ou Xiaolu interjected from the side.
Cameron looked at Ou Xiaolu with a look that screamed "I want to kill you," and said, enunciating each word, "It's a story about a network controlling the world, where everything can be governed by a network."
"A robot?" Ou Xiaolu blinked.
"Is your brain only capable of thinking about robots? The transmission speed of bio-electricity is ten thousand times faster than a network. It doesn't have to be just robots that have a network; ants have one, some microorganisms have one, so other life forms must have one, too."
Watching Cameron's eyes light up, Ou Xiaolu felt that this man had a more vivid imagination than Steven. If he were to embark on the path of the Holy Blood Council, he might truly come up with something extraordinary.
At this moment, Steven spoke up, "Forget about your robot thing."
"It's a network," Cameron roared.
"Fine, a network. Remember my childhood dream? Controlling everything with telekinesis, throwing lightning with a flick of the hand, focusing light into a sword—let's make a movie like that."
"Didn't you say the next movie was going to be about catching a policewoman?" Ou Xiaolu added again.
"That was just an excuse. Never mind, a policewoman is fine—let's make it an alien policewoman. She's still a woman, right? It's settled. I think I can give that telekinesis a catchy name. How about 'The Force'? As soon as I film this movie, it will quickly become a legend in cinema history. When that happens, I'll take the props from the movie out, and I will be able to obtain extraordinary power."
"Is now really the time for this?" Ou Xiaolu was somewhat speechless, but one thing was certain: if this film really became a legendary blockbuster, it might indeed lead to the emergence of a powerful system of strength.
Honestly, just now, when Steven said the word "The Force," Ou Xiaolu also felt a ripple in the air. Could this actually be the key to the resurgence of spiritual energy?
Ou Xiaolu shook his head; that seemed impossible.
However, they really couldn't stay here any longer. If they stayed, these two middle-aged men would soon turn into middle-aged lunatics.
Ou Xiaolu led Cameron and the others out of the factory gates, where his car was already parked. "I'll drive you back; you certainly won't be able to call a cab here."
Cameron and Steven, who were still talking about their dreams and calculating which elements could be used for their film, glanced at Ou Xiaolu's car and nodded in unison.
"Nice car. You were right earlier—should we make a movie about a car rolling on the ground and turning into a robot?"
"No need, I can get that kind of thing," Ou Xiaolu rejected Cameron's suggestion. He should have known better than to let him into the car. What if the car flipped? Would he have to find Wayne to buy an autonomous one?
Not long after Ou Xiaolu and the others left, this abandoned factory, which had long been devoid of visitors, welcomed a new group of guests.
This group arrived on foot. They were dressed in old-fashioned denim, wearing cowboy hats, with revolvers hanging directly at their waists, complete with shiny bullets.
As they reached the factory gate, one of them asked, "Karls, are you sure the council member who was in contact with Alod lives here? Aren't they rich? Why would they live in a place like this?"
"Young Master Ayoke, they are rich, but their territory is divided into living quarters and training grounds. Their training requires avoiding outsiders. The council member named Doli usually trains here; he practices natural spirits, and since he had a good relationship with us, Young Master Alod was in contact with him and agreed to join the Holy Blood Council as a Vice Chairman."
"Oh, then he should know who killed my brother. Karls, go and call him out."
The man called Karls responded and took out a mobile phone to start dialing, but after four or five calls, no one answered. It was unclear where Doli had gone.
Ayoke grew impatient. He looked back and said, "Marion, go inside and take a look, but be careful not to attack randomly; he is, after all, something of a friend to us."
The cowboy called Marion stepped forward immediately, jumped over the three-meter-high wall at the edge of the factory, and entered the abandoned facility.
Before long, Marion's shout rang out from inside the factory. The other cowboys grew anxious, drew their revolvers, and leaped into the factory just like Marion had.
Once inside, they discovered that one of the factory walls seemed to have been knocked down by a violent gale. Everything in the path of the wind had been torn into thumb-sized fragments.
On the chaotic ground, a skeleton—all that remained of a corpse—was quite conspicuous.
Karls quickly stepped forward to examine it, then said with great gravity, "It's Doli's body. I've met Doli; his teeth grew exactly like this."
"Didn't you say you spoke to him on the phone yesterday? How does he look like he's been dead for decades?" Ayoke walked up to the remains and gave them a light kick, causing the skeleton to disintegrate into fragments.
"I don't know either." Karls seemed to have thought of something and said loudly, "I heard that the Silver Dragon King's subordinates also arrived in New Town. Could it be them?"
"The reason?" Ayoke paced back and forth, accidentally crushing Doli's skull into pieces. "What was their reason for attacking?"
"Could it have something to do with Young Master Alod? After all, Young Master Alod's bloodline has awakened quite a bit; he can turn into a large werewolf. In New Town, as long as Wayne and his lot don't intervene, Young Master Alod is an invincible existence."
"That's possible, but I still don't understand. Alod had no reason to come into conflict with the Silver Dragon King's subordinates. Forget it, never mind that. Besides Doli, who else in the Holy Blood Council do you know?"
"Young Master Alod introduced me to their other Vice Chairman, Tuls, but that Vice Chairman died a while ago as well—I think it was about a day or so before Young Master Alod. With two Vice Chairmen dead in such a short time, the last Vice Chairman is so scared he won't come out. Plus, I've never met him, so I can't even arrange a meeting."
"What about the council members? Don't they have a level of council members?" Ayoke was getting impatient. "If that doesn't work, take us to their headquarters."
"Headquarters... you're right. I know where that is. We'll head there immediately."
