Chapter 106: Constructing the Sea Moth

According to the materials indicated on the blueprint, constructing the Sea Moth requires a substantial amount of titanium-lead alloy, along with small quantities of copper and glass. Qin Fei had some copper and glass in his backpack, but very little titanium-lead alloy. To gather enough materials, he planned to make another trip to the mushroom forest to salvage the abandoned Sea Moth.

Using the coordinates displayed on the signal receiver, Qin Fei swam toward the vicinity of the mushroom forest. After his body underwent mutation, he noticed his oxygen consumption in water had decreased somewhat. Additionally, the four tentacles on his body helped propel him forward swiftly as they undulated underwater, significantly boosting his swimming speed. Besides this, his overall speed and strength while swimming had improved markedly. This indicated that his physical condition had been enhanced by the mutation.

Upon locating the abandoned Sea Moth, Qin Fei did not rush over immediately. Instead, he donned the full Tek armor and ascended to a shallower depth near the surface. He pulled a flare from his backpack, ignited the fuse, and threw it out. The flares in the Deep Sea Expedition game are made from sulfur and phosphorus powder and burn steadily even underwater. When thrown, they attract the attention of most dangerous aquatic creatures—provided those creatures haven’t already detected you.

Between a living prey and a source of light, any predator would naturally be drawn to the light. However, if the predators detect your presence, no matter how many flares you throw at once, they will prioritize attacking you.

After tossing the flare, Qin Fei quickly moved to a safe distance to observe. The mutated Death Leviathan soon noticed the flare and swam toward it. Seeing the Leviathan distracted, Qin Fei activated the Tek chest plate and circled around from afar to approach the abandoned Sea Moth.

Once the Sea Moth was ready, Qin Fei immediately pulled it from the spatial backpack and threw it out. Seeing the Leviathan closing in, he didn’t hesitate to flip open the cockpit and climb inside.

Just as Qin Fei entered, the mutated Death Leviathan lunged and bit into the Sea Moth’s hull.

The hull strength dropped from 100% to 58% after the Leviathan’s attack. This meant the Sea Moth could only withstand about two more hits.

Immediately after the attack, Qin Fei powered up the Sea Moth and fled forward at maximum speed. The Leviathan pursued closely behind. The Sea Moth’s speed was thirteen meters per second—over ten times faster than an average human swimmer.

This speed was indeed impressive. However, the mutated Death Leviathan was no slow swimmer either. In the short term, Qin Fei couldn’t create a vast gap between them, but neither could the Leviathan catch him inside the Sea Moth.

The chase soon led them into a kelp forest. Creatures dwelling in the mid-to-deep sea zones rarely venture into shallower waters, as the pressure differences cause extreme discomfort and can even cause their bodies to rupture internally. Of course, a formidable being like the Leviathan wouldn’t die from pressure changes, but it still disliked shallow waters.

Here, the depth was only about 200 meters at most. Since they had entered the shallow zone, the Leviathan ceased its pursuit and swam back toward the mushroom forest.

Only after Qin Fei had driven the Sea Moth close to the escape pod did he finally breathe a sigh of relief. He had managed to shake it off.
