Chapter 037: The Recruitment of the Seventh Squad - Part 2

The members of Squad Seven exchanged glances and burst into laughter.

“Brother, you’ve only just awakened, so you probably don’t understand how things work in the Transcendent world yet!”

“Honestly, whether you’re a ‘Supernova Individual’ or not doesn’t matter in the slightest to a rookie squad like ours!”

“We’re all just students at Jiang City University, not professional Overlimit Fighters. We banded together simply for mutual protection.”

“With the abilities you’ve shown, even if you aren’t a Supernova, you’re still the strongest among us. Having you join us brings nothing but benefits!”

“For a trainee Overlimit Fighter squad like ours, recruiting a new member with actual combat ability isn’t as easy as you might think.”

The bald young man, known as “Drumstick” Chen Ji, who had been silent until now, laughed heartily as he clapped Bai Yuxi on the shoulder. “Finding a new recruit is lucky enough—we can’t afford to be picky! Besides, you might have ‘Supernova Individual’ potential. No matter how you look at it, it’s a win!”

“Why is it so hard to recruit new members?”

“Didn’t you just say that the surge in convergence points has caused the number of Transcendents to skyrocket?”

“And since you’re an official Overlimit Squad, you’d think it’d be easier for you to recruit new members than for those unofficial organizations, or even the underground forces of the Black Transcendence world, right?”

“Well, the surge in numbers is all relative!”

“Even after rough estimates, on average, only one in ten thousand ordinary people has a chance of awakening as a Transcendent.”

“So theoretically, with a population of 1.4 billion in Yan Nation, there are only a few hundred thousand Transcendents.”

“But not all of these Transcendents are suitable to become Overlimit Fighters!”

“You should know by now, the awakening of Transcendents is completely random and unpredictable—anyone could awaken.”

Drumstick explained, “It could be a child in kindergarten or an elderly person in their eighties. It could be a super soldier from the army, or it could be a bedridden patient who can’t even lift a chicken.”

“Once you factor in personality, abilities, social ties, family bonds, and all sorts of other things, less than one in ten Transcendents is both able and willing to become an Overlimit Fighter!”

“And of those, fewer than one in ten actually has the ability and qualifications to do so! In other words, out of every hundred Transcendents, only one might become an Overlimit Fighter!”

Drumstick shook his head. “When you do the math, there are only about a thousand people in the entire Yan Nation who can reach the level of a true ‘Overlimit Fighter’!”

“Leaving aside those officially recruited, the rest are scattered across various Transcendent organizations in every district, province, and city, and the actual number isn’t very high.”

“People like us don’t even count as Overlimit Fighters—we’re just ‘trainee Overlimit Fighters’ with some combat ability.”

Drumstick pointed to himself and his teammates. “Even this ‘trainee’ status is something we only got because we’re young.”

“Ever since the Transcendent world entered a period of compromise and mutual development with official forces, the authorities have been vigorously training a new generation of Overlimit Fighters, recruiting all awakened Transcendents under thirty.”

“They’re all sent to the ‘LDH Overlimit Fighter Training Camp’ for development, in hopes of boosting the ranks of Yan Nation’s Overlimit Teams.”

“Compared to you, we might seem like veterans, but in truth, we’ve only been awakened for about a year ourselves.”

“Lofei’s been awakened for a year and a half, I’ve been awake for a year and two months, Maya, Willy, and Jason are just a few days short of a year, and Youyou for eight months.”

He gestured at himself and Lofei. “And our base’s logistics officer, Su Xiaoke, has only been awake for three months!”

“Most of us awakened while still at university, and since Jiang City University is under the jurisdiction of the ‘LDH Overlimit Management Division’ at the Kialuo Mountain Base, the moment we awakened, we were immediately recruited into the official LDH Overlimit Fighter Training Camp for all sorts of specialized training.”

He shook his head. “Currently, there are about four hundred newly awakened Transcendents being trained at the Kialuo Mountain Base.”

“But under the base, there are more than twenty official Overlimit Teams, and each team has several, sometimes over a dozen, trainee squads like ours.”

“Whenever a new awakener is found, the stronger Overlimit Teams snap them up right away. With so many teams and so few recruits, there’s never enough to go around.”

Drumstick shrugged helplessly. “Our Squad Seven isn’t exactly strong, so it’s not easy at all for us to bring in new members.”

“If you hadn’t awakened as a ‘wild rookie’ because you were exposed to Maya and the others’ battle, making it fate that you have some connection to our squad, and if you hadn’t yet been approached by other Overlimit Teams, Lofei wouldn’t have thought to bring you in. Otherwise, would we have gone to such lengths, searching all night for you?”

“In our university…”

Bai Yuxi was stunned. “There are really over four hundred Transcendents like you here?”

“Hey now! That’s not the point!”

“Those four hundred are only trainee Overlimit Fighters like us.”

“Kialuo Mountain Base is the central hub of the ‘Central Summer Region,’ one of Yan Nation’s seven great Transcendent territories.”

“Other than the headquarters in the ‘Northern Yan Region,’ it’s the second largest Transcendent base in the nation, with over a hundred official Overlimit Fighters alone!”

Xia Youyou, who had been listening to her teammates chat with Bai Yuxi for ages, was already nodding off. At last, she couldn’t resist interjecting, “If you count the Transcendents without combat abilities, the numbers are way higher than that—what’s so surprising?”

Bai Yuxi was dumbfounded. “Then how come I’ve never noticed any signs?”

“Come on! That’s because those four hundred people aren’t all from our university!”

“There are more than a dozen universities around Kialuo Mountain Base, with over a million students in total—Jiang City University alone has tens of thousands!”

Despite her petite and adorable appearance, Xia Youyou was anything but mild-mannered. She rolled her eyes at Bai Yuxi and said playfully, “Hiding four hundred people is hardly difficult!”
